ACTC is trying to hold back students from graduating the nursing program after they has successfully passes all courses. Any suggestions on what the students should do? talking to the teachers and president of the college doesn't work. Suggestions?

You also have to pass the HESI to graduate not just your nursing classes

Actc does whatever they want now. That is the problem with aloof management. Just ask any of the faculty there.

It does not specifically state that in our student handbook. It does not say in order I earn your diploma and sit for boards you have to pass. There in no law stating that a student must pass the hesi in order to sit for boards. It is also fraud to the federal government for those who a getting financial aid that will not have their schooling paid for if have to repeat. It doesn't seem right. The school officials are all very unprofessional. Something needs to be done at that school. It's pathetic. It's whats wrong with our country, people try to better themselves and the society and a school just tries to distruct them. We need justice for all these students. There has been suicide threats and all. I understand having to take the NCLEX it's law but not the hesi.

You must be dumber than a box of rocks!!! In order to become a nurse you must pass the class and the required testing (including hesi) to get to the boards!!! Before you try to argue with me i have been there and done it!!! Also it might help you pass if you knew how to spell...destruct not distruct, and in your earlier post, its have not has...there are others i just chose those as examples.

Well excuse me. I am on a phone that has auto correct and I am also human so I do make mistakes. However, you do not know me so you do not have the right to judge me or call me names. If you're a nurse, like you say. Maybe you should learn that being rude and hateful towards people will get you no where. Also, since youre so big on correct spelling maybe you should have went to school to become an english teacher.:) That being said, who says you have to pass the hesi?...,the school, that's it! They also say they will help you in anyway possible but when you go to them they say it's your fault for not learning. Sorry, but we pay for that education and for them to teach us. Not so our instructors can sit in class and sleep or play on their phone. There is so much more about this program that I will not put on this site. But they are all very unprofessional and do not follow the handbook like its supposed to be done.

Balderdash! Most of the staff at ACTC want to see students succeed. They do everything they can to help students and see them earn a degree. Some of the teachers may suck, but that's true with every college. As for sleeping in class, I've never seen any instructor at that school do that. You have to do the work, they're not going to do it for you. And that's fair. I damn sure don't want a nurse who had "help" passing their exams. I want a nurse who knows what they're doing. If you're not passing it's your own fault.

I have passed everything with A's and B's. So I know my stuff. I'm not saying that we shouldn't take certain test, but why should they determine wild we graduate?? The hesi test hasn't been around that long so you do have nurses out there who have never taken one just so you know. And I do agree that we shouldn't be spoon fed, however when you get up in lab (sleeping instructors class) to teach myself I'm told not to touch anything! Please explain to me how I should teach myself? Also, every nurse must pass the nclex to become licensed, so why does the hesi matter?

If you can't complete the program requirements you did not earn your degree. Why should you receive preferential treatment from everyone else? If nursing school is this challenging for you I pity you when you hit the floor because it gets worse before it gets better. You chose ACTC's program therefore you must abide by their policies and requirements. Grow up temper tantrums and complaining won't help you to get by if you ever make it out on the floor so put on your big girl panties and fulfull your requirements or step back for those that can!

I have spent plenty of time on the floor and did excellent, I have done excellent throughout the program. I deserve to graduate. The RN program didnt have to pass the hesi with a certain score why should the LPN? I am an excellent student and will be an excellent nurse. There are people passing this program that have been given take home exams because the instructors lost theirs, and students who have completed the program with all C's! So can you honestly tell me they will be better nurses than me? NO I don't think so.

Just because you pass the class doesnt make you a nurse. Yes on paper you are a nurse, but the class teaches you how to pass the exams and the basics. You learn to become a nurse once you get a job and start gaining experience. If you don't understand what i just said, then never mind i cant make it any clearer.

I understand what you said. Why are you so rude? Geez!
We are not taught how to take these exams. Please make sure you know what you're talking about before you open your mouth. You obviously have no idea.

Yes i do. That is the whole purpose of a class, of any sort. To teach you the information that is on the exams to follow. And i dont think i was being rude. If it came off that way i apologise.

Thanks for your apology. There is just so much that I haven't said on here that the program has done. It's not just me that has a problem it's the entire class. I don't see a problem with taking the hesi, I just can't figure out why we have to pass it at the end of everything we've done in order to graduate. Why could we take these exams thoughout the program like the handbook says? Instead if waiting 1 week before graduation. It's horrible to have to go through this.

Like any medical classes that are a national program, the sequence things go in in each state may differ based on what that state wants. Its national so all the curiculum is the same everywhere, but each state has different things they do.

They have something that you do not or you would be graduating and not them. If it is important enough to you you will complete the program at a later date, but whining and throwing the entire program under the bus because you can not meet a requirement is futile. Meet the requirements or fail that is your option.

I disagree. If the nursing instructors are not teaching well enough the the student will not pass their Hesi. That whole nursing program is going down the tube!! Too many instructors have retired and the college just hires anyone they can so they can keep the program going. They are incompetent. There is definitely a real problem with this program. They only care that they get the students money....bottom line!! Nuff said! Also there has been instructors take students to clinical sites and fall asleep!!!! Pathetic!! Yes it has happened! They bettet get this program straightened out before they lose it!!!! Willie mccollugh should try to help these students someone needs to give a damn!!

Any nursing program has the right to choose if they want to administer a hesi or comprehensive final at the end of each course. Also they have to right to administer a exit hesi. I will be 3rd semester lpn next semester and I don't think it's right that the exit hesi you all took was the first you had ever taken we've had the privilege to take 3 and the are a different form of test but in the end it is up to the school to administer one... or not. Also if you failed your first attempt on the exit hesi you should have been given a second chance best I understood.

There is more material than can be fit into a two year nursing program. Instructors can not"teach" everything you need to know to be a nurse or to pass boards. The students must be proactive and self motivated. I get so tired of hearing how the teachers don't teach, everyone involved is an adult and should not need to be spoon fed. The program graduates many wonderful nurses that pass Hesi and boards. Any program is not going to please every individual all of the time, but so long as >90% of the grads pass boards there should be no cause for complaints because the program achieved its purpose. If nursing school can break you, you probably just don't deserve to be a nurse, but if it means enough to you, you'll find a way to put forth the effort and make it. Good Luck!!!
