Just wondering if anyone has seen or knows of a Dr. Feinberg? I was given his name from a member of a fibro support group I belong to. I just moved to Ashland from Booneville Arkansas and am in need of a pain management doctor with experience in treating fibromyalgia / rheumatoid arthritis. I've ran several searches but keep coming up with clinics who seem to be tailored to treating accident victims etc. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

His name is Howard Feinberg, D.O. He is a rheumatologist and is a very good doctor. Ashland Arthritis Center. 6063299712. There are also arthritis docs at Barboursville, W.Va. Hope this helps.

Mysister has been going to him for several years for treatment of Lupus.
Unfortunately in Eastern Ky the pill heads have just about ruined pain management for those who really need it.
Most doctors will not prescribe the strong medications any more.
In Louisa where I live, if Tramadol or an anti-inflammatory won't do the trick, then you are S.O.L.
My wife has had several major abdominal hernia surgeries and lives in constant pain, but the strongest medicine doctors will give her is Darvocet.(1 tablet twice daily)
It doesn't help at all, so she doesn't even ask for it any more, and that leads them to believe that she's not in pain or else she would take it.
Why would you take something if it doesn't help you?
The mindset of doctors have been so clouded by the rampant drug abuse here in eastern ky that they view everyone who says that they are in pain as some sort of druggie, and that is so unfair.

AIS, I'm so sorry to hear of the problems your wife is having. It is her right to be treated and NOT to have to live in pain.
I was becoming afraid of this after reading through some of the threads. I've gathered from what others have posted that are 2 types of docs: those that prescribe anything regardless of whats wrong with you or those that wont prescribe anything regardless whats wrong. It seems to be the latter being most common.
This is terribly disturbing to me. Where I'm from pain management is much more progressive. However, its structured in such a way to monitor the patients behavior/potential for abuse by requiring a pain contract with the doctor. If the pain centers here require similar agreements, I dont understand why they'd be hesitant to prescribe medications.
While I dont consider the meds I have been prescribed especially strong, they did prove to be very effective for my conditions. In fact, for the last 2 years I switched from a pain pill to a transdermal patch. My previous doctor and I used trial and error to determine the BEST treatment aiming for maximum pain relief with minimal side effects.
Should I assume Dr. Feinberg to be vrey conservative regarding pain management?

He is conservative, but it depends on the condition. He hooked me up with Advanced pain Physicians on 29th st. I see Dr. Bell. He has tried many different approaches with me as far as pain management. I hate to take pills, but unfortunately, that is something I have to do. But he is up on all new methods of management. I do have a contract with him. No dr. shopping, can have drug test at any time, pill counts, etc. I go to Feinberg, Bell on regular basis. Maybe u could get hooked up with Bell, but you will need a referal and u will probably need a referal to get in with Feinberg. Feinberg has a very long waiting list to get in. Good Luck to ya

WELL I CAN TELL EVERYONE, THEY WON'T GET THEM FROM DR. FEINBERGS OFFICE. AS HE DON'T GIVE THEM OUT, HE USES OTHER METHODS FOR HIS PATIENTS.

I've been going to him for years, he's never once given me a perscription. He uses other methodes to help with my RA.
So don't go there and think he'll just give you pills.

Dr. Feinberg is an excellent physician. You have been given good advice! And, no, he is not an ass. I know him well, and he is a great doctor, and a good man who has legitimate concern for his patients.

Doctor Feinberg is a good doctor. My 81 year old Mother has gone to him for a few years until today. Her wait time has never been less than two and a half hours. Well today was the final straw...her appointment was 10:30...she walked out of the office around 2:30 pm! How disrespectful and unprofessional is that making someone wait over four hours! The staff needs a major attitude adjustment! Not friendly at all. I would NOT recommend Dr. Feinberg to anyone, unless of course you don't mind sitting all day!

He is a Jack Ass, and his staff is just plain ignorant. If he was on fire, i wouldn't pi$$ on him to put him out. And no I'm not a druggie. However, he had me on several medicines at the same time which all was the same medicine. That office is pathetic. To all you lupus patients who think he's doing wonders for you. Chances are, you don't even have Lupus. They told me the same thing. Guess what, i don't have it! So i suggest second opinions.
