Tribe says goodbye to Grandma Nellie

Hundreds of people gathered Friday at Billy Mills Hall in Pine Ridge to say goodbye to the 81-year-old cultural matriarch who was often referred to as Grandma Nellie.

I miss my grandma she was a very special to me and a good person and she welcome everybody if she didn't know them. She was a good mother, sister and grandma,great grandma. I wish I could see her again and look at her pretty smile and her glowing eyes! I feel lonly because she don't here no more and hurt to see that she not with us standing by are sides. But she will always being watch over us and be with us in our hearts. I LOVE YOU GREAT GRANDMA!!!!!

I am the grand-daughter Nellie Two Bulls, and it really touches my heart to see how much she touched others and the world. To me she was just Unci who loved me. But when we would travel i would see how much people had respect for her and it was amazing. So was my world she raised me up since i was a little girl. My mother washer youngest daughter. She taught so much about being lakota and taught me how to sing and speak lakota. Wopila Tanka to all of you!!!

Yes she is a great lady a auntie to never be forgotten, I apriciate the kind words she said about me and my brother and sister" that we made the best of life, and created activties"she spoke at my grandmothers funeral, she new us well, she alwayz comes over to our house and visit and talk about long ago songs, I alwayz remember they bring a drum and sing songs, or if they left the drum they use the wash tub to sing.
