It is because of the actions from individuals such as this, that we believe that the system has failed us. When in all actuality it is those we have intrusted our lives. They need to tighten up on the applicants for this position. You do have someone's life in their hands. And that officer needs to be dealt with also. How do you put a traffic stop over someone's life? That means they do not have their priorities in check on the job. Was the officer life that made the stop in jeoperady? Were these people armed and dangerous?
A prime example of willful neglect!!!!!!!

She mentioned a knife and they are more worried about making money on a traffic ticket? We can see where the priorities are, of course the speed trap where the money is! Now what happened to the officer on duty? 911 failed but what happened to the police department responsible?
Glad to see the lady made it ok after that ordeal, God Bless her!

People like that should not waste the time of professionals who are trying to help people who are actually hurt. It beats down the people who are trying to do their jobs. She should be punished for abusing the system. It is a greater shame that this is a news story told from that angle that it is.
She obviously has a problem, like so many people do, in needing in-appropriate attention. One has to wonder why she could not call a relative or a friend to escort her to safety, maybe she has used all those people up, now she wants to waste the public and the public servants' time.
Two and a half hours sitting in her home with a working phone. Why was she scared?

The officer assisted another officer in a traffic STOP. A traffic stop can be any number of things: stopping a car that matches the discription of a vehicle that was just involved in an armed robbery; a driver wearing black driving around at night in an upscale neighborhood (that's similar to what led to the "wooded rapist" being caught); a drunk driver weaving all over the road; a traffic stop can be any number of things and not just a speeding ticket. Think before you speak instead of having a knee jerk reaction.

Finally, someone responding on here with common sense and logical thinking!
THANK YOU for all your posts. It couldn't have been said any better!

I have been in a domestic case where i was beaten black and blue. I feel the same way this lady feels, when you get a 911 call in this matter it could mean between life or death ! So they need to respond quickly to any one who thinks there life is about to end! So many people are killed daily due to domestic violence.

OMG !!Finally another resonable person shares the same thought process!! Shelia take responsibility for yourself, if your afraid, LEAVE,run, jog, jet, roll to a safe location !! Thank you so very much for posting common sense. For whatever reason, the very individuals that need to apply it to their lives, dont read internet information.

Reading the comments, I guess the stereotypes of people from the South are true. It doesn't matter what she "should have done", the police are paid to protect the citizens. There is NO REASON that she should have to call so many times. Bogus calls, false alarms, suspicious packages, etc. are all required to be checked into. It is not the 911 operator, nor the police's right to pick and choose what calls they want to answer. If she died, what would all you hicks have to say then?

To understand what it is like, you have to live here for awhile. Here it is all about money. Haven't you heard "no money, no honey"? " no finance, no ramance"? Down here if you don't have a job, you may as well be dead. It appears the woman's ex boyfriend had just lost his job and the woman broke up with him as a result. Imagine someone who said they loved you was really in love with your money. I think most guys would be upset if this happened to them. He might have called her some names and she got mad and called the police to punish him. Women calling to lie on men is not a rare occurence here. I am not native to this area but, I have seen all kinds of BS here.

There are too many women that want to butch up or b*tch up to a man and slap him about the face or head or, attack him with a weapon and then get scared when he retaliates in self defense. They call crying to the police as fi they didn't do anything to deserve what they get. It is a simple rule, you put yourself in a man's place, you get treated like a man. No man should tolerate being abused. Everyone has the right to defend themselves but, when a man defends himself it IS considered a crime by law. This part of the country is messed up.

I agree with Mary. If you call 911 they need to come and check it out. AFTERWARDS they can deal with wether or not there was a true emergency and all of this ridiculous speculation about who was abusing who, wether she deserved whatever, can be dealt with.

I hope to god none of you crazy people will ever be in a position to make a irrelevant and judgemental decision that could cost me my life because you think that your self-righteousness or personal bitterness is more important than fulfilling the role of a first responder. 911 isn't a TV show and there is no back-story that justifies a 3 hour wait for a police officer.

As for Sam, there are too many men and women who stay in pointless abusive relationships for too long and for no good reason. Sucks for them that they need help to see that physical and verbal abuse is something they should get away from BEFORE it leads to a situation like this. Being an idiot however doesn't stop people from having access to public services, I'm sure you probably even finished some level of publicly funded schooling to know how to use a computer.

You are comparing apples and oranges. A work week at Mcdonalds has nothing on a work week at a 911 center.

I attended a high level school that received little public funding. I am far from being an idiot. I left my last abusive relationship just as the abuse began. I could have been an idiot and stayed in the relationship and called the police to report the violence but, the police would have just blown me off. At least you do recognize there are men who are also victims of violence/abuse, the system of law sure as hell does not.
