I for one hope he lives a good long time. In prison. May he suffer all the pain, shame, heartache, fear, devestation, and loss that every one of his victims has suffered at his hands (not to mention his filthy private parts). And when he's done suffering all that, may he suffer all the grief, pain, heartache, fear, and helplessness that the families of his victims have suffered. And only when he's done suffering all that, may he finally be sent to meet his Maker.

I went to high school with him. I cannot believe this! However, I know that DNA don't lie and he is in one heap of trouble. The cops don't play games when doing investigations and it sounds like the evidence is all in line. I guess he'll be in the same facility he once guarded.

You should have made better choices, Jason. You'll be in the pen for the rest of your life.

Thank God this man is behind bars!!!! I hope he is miserable in prison for the rest of his sad, thoughtless, inhumane life!!! To all his victims, I hope you may have some relief, knowing this SICK man is behind bars. He will pay for what he has done! Thanks to all the officers who have worked so many years on this case!

As a friend, I hope this is all a huge HUGE mistake. I have known him for years. I can't believe that he could do something like this. He seem to be such an awesome guy. Those who know him well, loved and respected him very much. He just doesn't seem capible of doing this. I can assure you that the people who knew him well are in total SHOCK !!! I pray for EVERYONE involved!! He has such good christian parents and they did an awesome job raising him. TOTAL SHOCK !!! If Jason did this, he should pay for his crime, but I would hate to think that this could be a mistake on the local authorities. They do make mistakes. I hope he will stay innocent until proven guilty. I would hate to be walking in his shoes right now.

I too have know Jason since we were 12 years old. I remember riding my bike to his house to play. He was actually one of my first "boyfriends" and we stayed friends through out high school. I did not hear about this until reading our local newspaper via the internet on Saturday. I clicked on the link and as soon as I read his name, I almost could not complete the article. This is NOT at all the Jason I grew up with and was so fond of. He was a great guy, funny, popular, could have dated any girl he wanted to...This just totally blows my mind. I woke up last night and was thinking about this for hours. I feel extremely bad for his victims and extremely bad for his great parents. I cannot imagine what happened in his mind to make Jason do such a thing. I dread the rest of the story that is bound to come out through the trial.

I hope we realize his inprisonment will only pay for his crime in some small way. And he should STAY in prison if he is convicted, but perhaps he is innocent. Though I doubt it. Anyway I just want to say that those who want him 'tortured' by his cellmates are falling into the same state of mind that propbaly got him started down the wrong path, when he went into being a jailor. Maybe he thought the prisoners deserved being tortured? I just hope we seek justice and perhaps his life, but not exact the torture he caused others. Cruelty and Hate are cousins. Let's stay away from both.

As you can see by the posts, he is alreay found guilty by the public court of opinion. Even if the DNA found did not match his, he would still be automatically considered guilty because it is so easy to gain a conviction against a male in the state of Tennessee. I will almost bet the prosecutor will be a female. If Kathy Morante was still prosecuting adult suspects, the feminazi would be foaming at the mouth to bury him with ease.

I played sports with this guy. He even attended a gathering at my house 3 years ago and offered to put in a security system. Not long after that he asked me out, thank God I said no.

It is amazing who might be lurky in your inner circle. I didn't know him well, but I think he deserves the most extreme punishment he can get. The pain and suffering he has caused can not be taken away!

I don't care who prosecutes him. I want them to do a thorough job and do it right. A lot of people are screaming that he's been unfairly targeted for this crime. This is the part that bothers me. He was found at 1:30 am, wearing dark clothes (similar to those reported by the family with the barking dog), in a wooded neighborhood, during the time of year the rapes typically occurred. He was suspicious, so there was a tail placed on him. The police feared he was getting suspicious, so they put GPS on him, caught him, AND found that his DNA matches the DNA of the indicted John Doe from six years earlier. THIS IS UNFAIRLY TARGETING THIS GUY??? It's not like they picked some Joe Schmuck off the street and figured he'd do. There were too many coincidences that made the police look at him. I am glad they did. They got his DNA and it matched. His DNA didn't magically appear at 8 rape scenes. There's no police cover-up. There are too many officers and agencies involved to plant this type of evidence.

If the rapes in neighboring states that are being investigated turn out to have DNA that matches his, this whole thing gets turned over to the FBI and he's in so far over his head that he'll never see the light of day from the free side of the prison walls he used to guard.

The court of public opinion hasn't randomly come to the belief that he's guilty. DNA is terribly hard to overcome, unless you've got the money to pay for Cochran. I thought he was a pretty nice guy in school, but had no idea of his prior arrest and conviction record for assault and battery nor did I know about the accusations of his penchant for rape scenarios (see WSMV's report from 5-13-08). Some people hide these sorts of deviant behaviors for years. Seems like he was doing an excellent job of it. Is he guilty? Probably. There are convicts that have been sent to prison on less evidence. Again, DNA don't lie.

There is a knot in my stomach I think I'll be sick
I once knew the monster called Jason Burdick
The paper read she was a sleep in bed
Home is a place were nothing can hurt
In the darkness a stranger did lurk
Dazed and confussed to see such a sight
Not giving in without a fight
Not his first ball game no ordinary punk
Not going to die without taking a chunk
He gathered his tools guns, plastic ties and duct tape he continued to rape
Fooling everyone with a false cape
Happen many times over 14years
Holding us hostage with our fears
Horrible but true my dears
16 to 61 he continued to assault
Noone could stop him its not your fault
His DNA the police did find
On a dish he left behind
Believe they violated his 4th amendment right
What if he showed up at your house tonight?
6 charges and others pending
He deserves to be punished on this I'm not bending
He hurt them on the bed and the floor
Tonight he is in jail and will do this no more
For this I say gayley
Thank you to a little dog named Bailey

My point is this guy was convicted by the public because of the media hype. There have been so many cases involving men who have been proven beyond a reasonable doubt to be guilty of the crimes they have committed, people seem to believe every man accused of a crime is guilty. Yes there are untold number of both men and women who are truely innocent but, the system looked to see what would prove them guilty and used it to get a conviction (remember Mike Niphong and the duke rape case?). The prosecution took the "victim's" word over that of the young men. This happens everyday. There have been many people who have been locked up with less evidence and, only the evidence that proved they were guilty was presented to the jury. Many of these past cases are now being re-examined and the wrongfully convicted are being set free. http://www.innocenceproject.org/

There are even innocent people who have been locked up for crimes where DNA evidence is not applicable or any physical proof is required such as assault or aggravated assault.39-13-101. Assault. 39-13-102. Aggravated Assault.

Tennessee law provides that a person who commits assault must have done one of the following:

Intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly caused bodily injury to another;
Intentionally or knowingly caused another to reasonably fear imminent bodily injury; or
Intentionally or knowingly caused physical contact with another and a reasonable person would regard the contact as extremely offensive or provocative.
Aggravated assault requires the use of a deadly weapon or serious bodily injury to have occurred. Tennessee law provides that a person commits aggravated assault who intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly commits an assault as defined above and:

Causes serious bodily injury to another; or
Uses or displays a deadly weapon

"Intentionally or knowingly caused another to reasonably fear imminent bodily injury;" This one section of Tennessee's assault law makes it too easy for anyone to have someone locked up with no proof.

The police do not have the time to search an entire neighborhood or area for a weapon ,if a weapon was indicated by the "victim" but, depending on the prosecutor, the lack of a weapon found can be considered irrelevant as the accused, wether the "victim" is willing to admit to lying or not, is often the real victim of a false accusation and will (if they are a male) face the likelyhood of being convicted because of false testimony. The "victim" is the state's witness (as if the state were the victim of the alleged crime(s).

I know someone who was wrongfully accused of either aggravated assault with a deadly weapon or aggravated assault (the state's District Attorney's office could not seem to make up thier mind as to which they were charging him with). He was also accused of exposing himself to a minor at the same time. No warrant was saught by the "victim's" mother, aunt or, the DA's office. I do not know about anyone else but, if my child told me an adult had done this to them, I would have saught a warrant to at least have this investigated, even if the person were going to serve a life sentence or be executed. What kind of parent/relative ignores seeking justice for their child? Answer: a parent/relative who lied about both accusations and just wanted to put someone in jail or prison under false charges. I know this man personally and I know he was not/is not capable of committing any of these crimes. Even though this innocent man, who is in the military accepted a plea bargain to simple assault[it was either this or face waiting another six to eight months in jail which meant he would have been charged with desertion during a time of war], if he can get the case reopened I will testify on his behalf as I know both the boy's mother and aunt, who are both liars and troublemakers.
