This could have easily been one person's word against another persons word - except for the fact that this is the second woman who won a court case against the Fords, owners of Starr Furniture Gallery in Ashland City.

It looks to me that the owners may be in over their heads financially - possibly because of poor, dishonest, business practices.

They have two judgements against them and are hurting themselves by not "making good" on the purchase.

On the other hand, they may just simply be crooks who know that most people won't take them to court. Who knows how many people they have stolen from?

I really need to make a comment on this article. I too bought furniture from Starr Furniture in August. I must say my husband and I were really, really patient(maybe a little too patient) on getting all of our furniture. We got our last piece in January, only because I drove up and told Chris I was there to pick it up and loaded it in my car. Cristie and Chris Ford apologized numerous times for it being on back order, their help quit on them, lost my copy of the receipt,(thank goodness I had a copy) they finally got it in, but was going to "surprise" us in delivering it because we have been so patient in getting our furniture. We did have to pay for everything up front, but I can say we were getting very, very nervous
when we stopped getting our furniture, because it was coming in pieces at a time, months at a time. I remember Rhonda Roberts there at the store picking out her furniture. She had told me in conversation her house had caught fire and she was having to replace everything. I am not sure how Starr Furniture is conducting their business, but I really get the feeling they spend the money that the customer gives them in place of something else (other needs) and waits for another customer to order and then will place your order at a later time, this is only speculation based on how business was conducted with us. Probably to the point that they could not keep up with what they have spent of the customers money waiting for their furniture verses the NEW customer that paid in full as well for their orders. Who is scamming who, I do not know. I just know of my personal experience with Starr Furniture.

I feel for them, but have to ask one question...if you never got the first order delivered right---why would you order something else??? They got the receipts, can't see how the furniture company is going to get out of this. Good luck to them.

I too and many others have purchased furniture from Starr furniture, because many went to school with Christie, trusted her and the famly name. I too paid up front for my order and did not receive it until 3 months later and was given numerous excuses why or why not. I also recently in September ordered another piece from her and received the wrong piece and made several attempts to call her but she never returned my call. I know it has to be hard to run a business but there comes a time where something has to give. I heard today that Christie and her husband have fleed to New York to stay with her husbands family, I hope that is not the case and they face the customers that are so unhappy.

Does anyone at WTVF actually review these articles before posting? This is almost unintelligible.

dsd is right on. They are floating money from customer to customer. Basically, they are using today's customers money to buy furniture from those that ordered months ago. Word on the street is the owners have a drug problem, mainly Christie. Anyone notice her demeanor on the news video? I feel bad for Rhonda Roberts. There has also been MANY other people that waited months to get furniture. They order most of their furniture items from Nashville stores, so there should be no 4-5 month wait. Even if I ordered furniture from around the globe, the wait should not be that long.

I had to read the story three times before it made sense. Third grade reporting. As for the story, I won't buy from Starr just to be safe.

Why spend another $3500 if you hadn't received your first order yet? That's silly.

I understood Mrs. Roberts paid in full for her first order, the order was held up, because Ms. Ford would not release the order that was paid in full, until she paid additional monies. Isn't that fruad? The first order still isn't correct at the time of this story and still isn't complete. It soon will be a year since this order was placed. That's just messed up! When will the courts step in?

I think channel 5 should do a follow up story. What about the other customers, did they get their money? Are the Ford's still doing business in Ashland City? What if someone else comes out of the closet, to report the wrong doing of this furniture store? Will the court step in then? If Mrs. Ford was order to give the second woman her money, isn't that contempt to court? I think the community should know what going on. That's just messed up !
