Its really sad that this whole mess happened. It is also very sad at all of the hundreds of comments posted, a select few seem to spend hours here reading new posts, and defending yourselves. with all that time wasted here, you may be actually able to do something more productive in your mission to get the word out about the horrible drug methadone. there was some very impressive info posted here earlier be some guy named max who provided a link, which opened my eyes on how serious of a problem this methadone drug actually is. I am sorry to all of the people how post here who lost someone to an overdose. sitting here and exchanging jabs at one another is really not solving anything. get out in the real world and look someone in the eye and hand them info that they can read, and ask them to pass it on after they have read it. I certainly have learned alot.

You do raise a good point. I have worked with drug addicts for many years and I'm not a fan of methadone, either, although I can't stop a client from going on it if that is what they choose to do. I heard a story about one guy who was on methadone for something like 20 years, and when he got out of a car, both of his shin bones snapped in half. The methadone leeched the calcium out of his bones.

Here we go,already looking for someone else to blame. How about you blame your kids. They knew what they were doing was wrong. Unfortunatly they paid a hard price for it. But here is a BIGGER question, How did these 16 yr olds become addicts???? The parents want all these answers, but their the ones who poorly raised/supervised their children to begin with. Their lack of parenting landed these kids at KP and now they WANT ANSWERS!!! Another group of people that have kids and rather have someone else (i.e. Kids Peace) raise them. They stole them, they were wrong! Counselor should have been more aware of where the pills were, but it doesn't mean the girls are not to blame as well.

I knew the girl who died. I knew her family. And as far as im conserned. Her becoming an addict was not their fault. Her mother and grand father did every thing they could for her. it was the system who put her into kidspeace. After she was in several other facilitys. Thats what happens when you take a way the life of a 14 yr old girl. yes, 14, she was in the system for the last 2 1/2 years of her life. and when you are kooped up in group homes, not seeing your family, friends, you tend to do some stupid things. always, right when she was about to come home, she would get into a fight, or run away. this time, it wasnt somthing little like that. SHE DIED. she was coming back to us on June 12. And all you people seem to care about is that fact that they stole it. There are SO MANY THINGS THAT COULD HAVE BEEN DONE TO PREVENT THIS. Its not just their fault and its not just the councelors fault. ITS BOTH OF THEIR FAULTS. Kathrine was a very misguieded soul. and i do belive that her being in all of these institutions helped her. but i also think its what ultimatly killed her, not in a literal sence, it killed who she was realy. so much changed when she left. but im straying from the point.#1.They should not have stolen thoes pills.#2.That councelor should not have had THAT MUCH (yes i say that much, if she realy needed it she should have taken what she needed for the day, not the hole bottle)methadone to her job KNOWING that she was basicaly bringing them somthing that could mess up all the things that they worked hard for(i.e. getting off drugs and coming home a RECOVERING ADDICT)#3. KidsPeace should have tabs on ALL THE DRUGS AROUND KIDS WHO HAVE DRUG PROBLEMS! just like when we were in school and the school nurse had to know if you had advil on you.#4. It should have been LOCKED UP........ yeh i think im done

Posted today,,,A toddler wearing a wet diaper and a T-shirt was found at 24th Street and Freemansburg Avenue before 2 a.m. today after unlocking the front door of her mother's house and wandering away, Wilson police said.

Another good mother,if the kid was hurt or killed ,must be the locksmiths falt..

wow! a do gooder speaks out again for the low life parents you can't raise their kids like decent people.Yea! you got it! When I see slim balls taken advantage of people's good hearts I'll speak my piece,I not asking for you to understand ,it doesnt matter what you think its what I think .The people who read this paper have nothing to do with this issue other than to read things are not getting any better no matter how much we spend in taxes.Most of the major issues covered are because of the people involved not being responcible.And no mater how sorry people feel for these slim balls they are still looking to stick it to somebody and you know it.when the paper stops writing about these low life people I'll stop having fun telling them what they are just like people tell me .but no mater what you say about me I raised my kids without setting them up for a life like these kids have .I have always blaimed the parents,which has always got nagitive responses.The truth hurts.

I agree wholeheartedly with your post. Unfortunately there will always be haters with access to the internet. I lost my son one year ago to methadone, I can relate to how and what this family is feeling. The horrible things said about him aren't worth repeating but my hopes are to use this as an avenue to get the dangers out there for those it may save, the wise ones who do get the message. Much is in the works to get the laws changed not only with methadone but many of the rx painkillers that are causing the deaths of so many needlessly. Please visit harmd.org for much info.

Taxpayer, It takes all types. I know of Parents who have given their child every possible good advantage, the best schools & educational opportunity, stable homelife, Two loving devoted Parents, "best of all possible worlds" yet this child chose friends who had no advantages, got into legal troubles and took drugs and went to prison!!
I'm so glad that your children turned out well and adjusted, perhaps you will be a shining example in your community and help those who need help the most.

I also read this story and in no way was this the mother's fault. Toddlers are that quick. When I was three I turned on the tub and caused a flood. My parents didn't turn around and sue Kohler for it!!

I am sorry for the loss of your son. If I could carry the burden of your greif for just one day I would. I can't imagine, nor do I ever want to be able to, the pain you must live with every day of your life. God bless you.
