Putting down an animal should be done humanely. I personally have no problem with taking the boyfriend out and beating him with a shovel, then putting a round or two through him. But dogs have better sense than the people in question. Perhaps it's time to thin their herd.

Thats just a lack of respect for life. I'm sure this guy is prone to violence. His girl seems charming as well. Too much trash out there. Just wait till the kid bites her...

My first question is.. what did the child do to provoke the dog to bite her.. Kids ruff-house with they're pets and the child may have hurt the dog. And I think the best rehabilitaion for this LOSER is not jail time but a few swift hits in his head with a shovel. And my wish for the other LOSER, Wendy.. May she suffer in multiple ways that would not be HUMANE for me to share! I have much hate for trash like who walk among us...May a higher justice be endowed upon them!!!

Woah, wait a minute. If a dog bit my kid I'd want them killed too. All right they didn't go about it the right way but c'mon folks - kids or dogs - who's more important?
I have to say I had an uncle who had a large farm up north. We always loved to visit there. He was an old school farmer, at his chicken fresh as it gets. He had a dog, mean old dog that lived in the barn to protect it. One night that dog went nuts, nobody could figure out what the deal was but he was out of his dog mind and dangerous. He said he'd take care of it, went outside. One "pop" later that dog was gone. He shot it once right in the head. That was many years ago, in todays world he'd be considered a monster not only for killing the dog but for letting it live in and around the barn and not in a chushy house.
It takes all kinds, I'm not making a judgement on this until I read more.

Again I ask what kind of a moron has a pit bull and a 4 year old? I believe in the benefit of the doubt but that judgement alone speaks volumes.

Perhaps we should arm the animals with shovels and guns in the event they are unfortunate enough to be mistreated by there owners!

The legal system should stop spending our tax money on this and go after real criminals like bank robbers, drug dealers and not on animal control.

First of all, there are plenty of NICE pitbulls out there. Second, there is no reason to beat the dog! If she didn't want the dog anymore, take it to the shelter. Wait til the child bites her, Hope she doesn't beat the kid! Maybe the child should have been taught how to treat animals! My 1 year old knows not to hurt the puppies! Maybe mommy should have been paying closer attention to the child and then the dog wouldn't have had the chance to bit the kid! LOSER PEOPLE shouldn't have animals or kids! I feel bad for the dog and for the poor kid that will grow up in the house fearing animals because of the stupid mother!

Do some of you folks know the diffrence between a dog and a person???? I don't know why he would need to beat the dog. I don't know why he killed it in front of anyone. I don't know why he threaten those kids. And I don't agree with ANY of his decisions concerning the above questions. BUT, if my dog bit my child without provacation(sic)(which does sometimes happen), I would shoot it. Not beat it, not wound it, I would simply end it's life quickly, and humanely.

He did not take it out back and kill it humanly. He beat it stood there and watched it suffer untill it finaly died. That is abuse end of story. I dont care what the dog does it does not give anybody any rite to torture that poor animal to death so it suffers. there is a BIG diffrence between what your uncle did to the dog and how this idiot killed the dog

All I really have to say is this: I leave it to the owner to decide if the dog/cat/whatever pet needs to die. Healthy, injured, sick, whatever, much as the wives and children in ancient rome survived at the pleasure of the husband/father, a pet's continued life or untimely death is at the discretion of the owner. Just don't torture the animal. If the dog needs to die, and all you have is a dull knife or a hammer, you need to do your best to make it quick and as painless as possible. Mothers tend to be over-protective of their children. A dog that a friend of mine owned bit my hand pretty good one time...I understood, and had no complaints (I hit Dave on the shoulder and his dog just happened to be sitting on the couch right behind his shoulder). My mom insisted he put the dog down, but between the two of us we convinced her that that wouldn't be necessary. But I digress. My point is thus; He obviously had a .40 at his disposal, and didn't have a problem using it, why not do it right the first time? I had to put my dog Ray down about a year ago...it really hurt to do it, but I pulled the trigger nonetheless. He was my best friend, and the only consolation I had was that he died quickly. He got hurt while I was at work, and my wife called me to let me know he had gotten loose and fought with the neighbor's dog. She was afraid to let him back in the house, and had him tied up in the back yard. I told her to put him down, and I'd bury him when I got home, but she didn't want to do it. So I told her I'd do it when I got home, and told her to give him water and food. She said, "Why? You're just going to kill him when you get home." I explained that that didn't change the fact that he deserved to be as comfortable as possible untill it was done, I mean, we give a good last meal to death row convicts, don't we? I wasn't mean to him, I didn't yell, I rubbed his ears, told him I'd miss him and did what I had to do...feeling like a cad the whole time.

I'm not endorsing this act one way or another, but how the heck did the cops find out that this even happened in the first place? Who ratted him out? It's in a rural area where hunting-related gunshots are regular, not in the middle of Main St. Bethlehem. Maybe if he would have been a bit more discreet about it, he wouldn't be in this trouble?
