I just got back from visiting Asheville
for the first time and I was not impressed!

So many strip malls! Dumpy parts of town
and bad decor in some restaurants.
Asheville is expensive!
I can't fathom Tiger Woods wanting to build
a golf course here.
I did like the art deco buildings in downtown
but the ugly modern buildings were an eyesore.
Wonder what obama thought?
The problem is my husband has to move here
for 3 years because he wants in construction
and has been assigned here anyone else hate it here?
I figure the rich people live outside of Asheville.

On the other hand I'm pretty much an upper crust snoot. My momma was a snoot before me and her momma was a snoot. We come from a very long line of snoots, American Royalty, if you will. We have been snotty snoots for generations. I think I will let my husband rent a room and I'll stay put in our mansion up here in PA.

the asheville tourism department pays travel writers to give asheville glowing reviews or so it's been rumored.
asheville is pretty much a dump!
The city is expensive cause they thought
they were going to get the rich and famous to
live here cause of tiger woods golf course
but the golf course is not going to happen now.
its time for a reality check.

I love New Yorkers because they don't stick their noses in people's business like the locals do down here. It's a wonderful city, and I wish I could afford to live there.

New Yorkers are alienated from one another. If someone is getting mugged, they don't help out. They just keep walking. If you say good morning to them, they either ignore you or look at you like you are crazy. If you are an old lady getting mugged on the street, New Yorkers hang out the window and watch but don't help. Nu Yawkahs mind there own buziness. Right. That's why Nu Yawkahs are askholes.

I still like New Yorkers. I've never had a problem any time I've been there. You can walk down the street plumb nekkid and nobody gives a rat's ass. Down here, you can't fart without somebody giving you a dirty look.

It's so pathetically obvious that "Stella" and her posts are not legitimate. We're supposed to be believe that someone considering moving here would get on a local forum and critique local architecture and bother to talk about some random restaurant's decor? Lame, very lame! I'd have more respect for you if you just identified yourself and honestly and politely discussed what your issue with this town is... and stay on topic.

But Thomas "Puddles" Hoffman, you are FROM New York. Of course you wouldn't be bothered by them. They don't know any better, and when faced with examples of how people should behave around each other, derisively call us "flyover" country people who are ignorant rubes and not nearly as smart as Nu Yawkahs. LOL. New Yorkers are the rudest, most obnoxious, arrogant people on the planet. And that accent. Outside NYC, everyone dislikes Nu Yawkahs. So I say, ifyou have escaped NYC and truly want to blend in here, fine. Just leave the stupid cultural bigotry towards the South and mis-perceptions behind. Either that, or GO BACK!

Old and young hippies, anarchists, drug users and street people and bums live in Asheville proper.

The money lives in the suburbs and small towns and villages outside of Asheville proper. Places like Biltmore Forest, Biltmore Lake, Cotswolds, Biltmore Park, Reems Creek, Hawks Landing, Poplar Ridge, Wildcat Cliffs, Windsong Estates and on and on and on.

They go into Asheville for live performance theatre, concerts, shopping and over-priced restaurants. When they get home the first thing they do is take a long soapy shower!

Add: and Thomas "Puddles" Hoffman, if you'd cut down on the beer drinking, your poor wife wouldn't have to clean up so many puddles of urine on the floor, and in the bed.:) Aw the trials of the elderly.

huh? minorities live like kings in this town with SO MANY government programs funded by TAXPAYERS.
It's SO good that many of them choose it as their intergenerational lifestyle. In other words they EXPECT the taxpayers to keep them up.

Two sides of town are fairly wealthy. Two are poor. Depends on what side of town you live on. You do not want to be in west A.

I can't belive Asheville is considered the top place to retire according to some magazines.
It's just not that appealing.
Talk about a hyped up town.
If you enjoy hippies, gays, rich liberals,
wiccans, atheist and drug dealers Asheville
is Heaven. Yes it's that bad we also
have the influential people of Asheville
who are nuts and secular aethiest.
