Pretty sure the government is the beast that needs starving. Government versus private business, hmmm... If there is such demand for say, a civic center in the first place a private company would build one (that is assuming we didn't have the type of government that would build it for them or subsidize its being built.) Why do tax dollars pay for things like this in the first place? Raising taxes on people is absurd. We should privatize everything and then tax businesses. We "allow" businesses into our communities. Selling us stuff is a "priviledge" we allow them. I for one don't want to spend my money building baseball fields and concert halls. If they have something worthwhile to offer me I will support them by going up to the ticket counter and buying a ticket. The cool thing about private business is that if nobody was coming to the civic center they would close it, if nobody came to the government owned civic center the government would spend ever increasing amounts of money keeping it open. Yarrrr!!!!!!!!!!
Bravo. Problem with the loons in Asheville, most don't understand how private industry works because they've been employed or subsidized through government.
