Enough. Asheville is not "the California of the East Coast," nor is it "the Portland of the South".

Stop trying to imitate someone else. Asheville is what ASHEVILLE is, for better or worse.

Amen!

Asheville was founded by Christians in the 1790s, way before Oregon and California were discovered and populated by Europeans. Asheville is traditionally a Christian enclave. Our Faith here is so strong we have successfully overcome an onslought of yankee transplant atheists, homosexuals, and socialists. And even angry New York transplant atheists like Mrs Fletcher above, God bless her. The locals stand strong!

Asheville is for Christ!

Can I get an Amen?

Asheville is my hometown. I'm 42 years old and the canges to
Ashevile have ben awful. Expensive, pretentious, high
crime rate. Some of the transplants want to make Asheville
anything but a city in the south.
Even down to lying ad saying president obama bought a house
here. A total lie to get Asheville publicity.
I have heard obama does not like Asheville at all.

p. Obama doesn't like Asheville because their are too many Christian churches to suit him, and not enough golf courses.

I don't care anymore about the complainers. Turbo gentrification, here we come, and start packing your bags if you have a problem with it.

I've lived in more than one place that faced the exact same dilemma, if that's what it is. My home town, a booming industrial center during WW II, is now a mere shadow of itself. In the fifties another place I lived, Sedona, AZ, was a quiet little backwater village with a Western movie set.
http://movies.nm-unlimited2.net/1950s/Graphic ...
Today that Western town has been replaced by a commercial strip and a whole bunch of rather expensive homes. The story goes on and on and includes many towns to be found in the most attractive locales around the country especially in the Southwest, ie. Santa Fe, NM, Durango, CO. and other places right here in Western, NC. Like you said, can't deal with it, pack your bags. One thing mankind has failed to figure out and never will is how to turn back the hands of time and who in their right mind would want to in the first place. Bottom line is, the "Good Old Days" are a figment of the imagination.
I'm just tired of being compassionate. It's time to be selfish and just enjoy my own selfish capitalist desires. Don't like it? Move out.

Asheville was founded in the 1790s way before Oregon was even known to Europeans. So if anything, Portland is the "Asheville of the Left Coast".:)

Not really the point. It's about Portland being, at one time, the number one brewery town.
OK, fair enough. Portland can have the breweries. And we'll be a church capital of the USA.:)
A Law! Y'all get thee to Bible Study tomorrow night at your local KJV Bible believing Baptist church now, ya hear?

Can I get an Amen?
