How can this be? Just breaks my heart to hear of such abuse to such an innocent creation.

I openly volunteer to have these people locked in a room with me for a few hours. I guarantee they would never abuse again afterwards.

These parents need the same thing done back to them. Let somebody break 40 bones in their bodies and see how they feel. They need to be shot actually. And these broken bones did not come from a playground accident. The poor child was 4 months old. Her parents beat her, that is all there is to it. Pitiful, just so sad and pitiful.

Any crime commited against a child should be a death penalty case.

""...The infant, Shaniyah Lee, was 2 months old when she was removed from her parents' custody after police received a report from the Department of Social Services. At the time, the infant had fractures to her skull, ribs and arms, said Roanoke Rapids police Chief Jeff Hinton...""

Two months old!! I hope these 'parents' rot in hell.

So what happens if this is a genetic defect as the story in the paper says the doctors claim?

This is an example of people deciding something without looking at the facts. DO YOU REMEMBER THE DUKE RAPE CASE?

If it is true sahme on the parents if it is a defect shame on you guys for haveing mob mentality.

Amen! and not by lethal injection. I believe hanging would be more appropriate; but break every bone in their bodies first. This really hurts my heart.

Joe I agree. If they are guilty then punish them. But if a doctor says it is a genetic defect and it wouldn't be the first time. These parents need to be found guilty in a court of law before you have a witch hunt.

Joe, I went back and reread the article. WHERE does it say that the doctors 'claim' this is a genetic defect?????????? BS.....This child was abused. Plain and simple---even you could understand that if you read the article.

""...The infant was examined by doctors to determine whether her injuries resulted from a genetic disorder or severe fall.

"These injuries are not consistent with falling on a playground or any normal childhood injuries," Hinton said, adding that the alleged abuse was "just really horrendous."'''

AND THEY BROUGHT FELONY CHARGES....no doubt in their mind.

At 2 months old the most this baby could of weighed was between 8.5 -13.5 lbs. That isn't much more than a heavy wet beach towel. What granny would like to know is what would possess a man or woman to beat a poor innocent little soul so small and tender such as this. One so innocent and unprotected against the world. One who looked to them for love and guidence. One who that baby trusted with its very life. Not only will the people in prison get 'em....they do NOT like people that abuse children.....But GOD will get 'em in the end too.

Not everybody needs to be a parent. I'm for spay and neuter in this case. The tragedy is, take this child away and they'll just crank out ten more and abuse all of them too. Both parents need to be fixed!

One thing I question the doctors is what normal 2 month old is out playing on a playground? If a doctor saw this and was reported..what the he.ll they let that baby go home for?

bringing charges is not guilty. I reread the article. I thought the qoute from the police chief was a doctor.

But I find hard to believe that three paragraphs are the facts. Yet if we put the parents in a room with some on this board they would kill the parents. That is why I am comparing the two. What would have happened to the duke players? Only to find out that what we were told and what happened are two different things.

We have a pustice system and I would hope that the parents get a fair trial. If they are guilty by all means they should be punished.

The part I have a hard time with it how can you break 40 bones in a babies body and not kill it unless something was wrong.

Also, I guess I just do not want to believe that people can do that.

Again, would you READ. There are genetic conditions where bones are so soft that they break spontaneously - and the article said the researchers were checking to see if those conditions could be ruled out. Read, honey, read!

I believe in madatory sterilization for the mentally ill.

A SANE parent can be pushed to their limits by a crying, colicky baby. If a parent already has mental issues, it doesn't take long for for the demands of caring for an infant to push them way over the edge.

I also believe there is a lot of UNreported infant abuse by mentally ill parents.

Maybe there should be mandated reality parenting courses in high schools that enforce how DIFFICULT child rearing is, and the ones who don't 'get it' should be sent to have their appropriate tubes cut.

The last hospital job I had I quit because I was so distressed having to work in the morgue at times and the last day I had a FIVE WEEK OLD whose father had bashed her little head in. They say he threw her at the wall.

This was over 20 years ago and I still cry thinking about it.

I believe Heaven will be full of babies whose little bodies were broken and battered by their parents.

And I think we have a commision from God to protect these little ones. Obviously we still aren't doing something right.

Hello, hello! These babies get the fractures in LONG bones- not skulls.
