This is just one provision contained in the "healthcare" bill.

"Sec. 224 (p. 118) provides that 18 months after the bill becomes law, the Secretary of Health and Human Services will decide what a 'qualified plan' covers and how much you'll be legally required to pay for it. That's like a banker telling you to sign the loan agreement now, then filling in the interest rate and repayment terms 18 months later. On Nov. 2, the Congressional Budget Office estimated what the plans will likely cost. An individual earning $44,000 before taxes who purchases his own insurance will have to pay a $5,300 premium and an estimated $2,000 in out-of-pocket expenses, for a total of $7,300 a year, which is 17% of his pre-tax income. A family earning $102,100 a year before taxes will have to pay a $15,000 premium plus an estimated $5,300 out-of-pocket, for a $20,300 total, or 20% of its pre-tax income. Individuals and families earning less than these amounts will be eligible for subsidies paid directly to their insurer."

WHY would anyone with half a brain SUPPORT this? It boggles my mind.........

So the CBO is lying? By the way I never said the figures were in the bill. What do ou dispute about these figures, Ghost Dog, and why is it that you are so enamored with a government takeover of this industry?

What about anyone making less then 44000.00. Oh lets say $20000.00? Unless I miss my bet it will be free.

Off subject but one thing I could never understand. Is how the government can give someone who has not paid a dime in taxes a massively large refund?? Refund defined: to return (money) in restitution, repayment, or balancing of accounts. How can you return something that has never been paid in?? This needs to stop.

Like we have said all along, it is a TAX. Don't pay, go to jail, just like the IRS.

Just one big disincentive for those near the $44k mark. At that level, you either need to work a little less or a LOT more. What do you think most would do? Hopefully, the Senate will kill this thing.

What "industry"? Insurance is just another way to take people's money, not give benefits that were paid for for years through denial of coverage after the fact, etc. Blue Cross/Blue Shield were Non-Profit in the beginning, insurance should go back to that service and make it affordable again. The same crooks that robbed US on Wall Street are robbing US through insurance. The Figures did NOT come from the CBO, they were inserted by Healthcare Lobbyists for idiots that watch Fox Noise and listen to Limbaugh to get excited about because they never check the BS coming from Fox or Limbaugh, just accept it as gospel because they are unthinking sheeple and dittoheads!

I recall that McCain spoke of a freeze on government spending during this bad economy. Makes more sense than spending more and killing more jobs like this administration. And yes, we would be in this mess as the Democrats have a heck of alot to do with the mess that came about. And the things that they are doing now are NOT things that will help the economy. After all, spending is much of the problem. Look at the huge deficits in California and NY. Your party of fools seem to be completely destroying the economy with their bigger government, big spending crap.

Small business in America creates the most new jobs and always have but they will not reinvest and create any jobs when looming tax increases are coming as well as a depressed economy . Obama and democrats have always known this but did not care enough to help them. In realty, Obama , despite his public rhetoric despises business as do all leftists. Obama and democrats have bankrupted our children to increase our already bloated federal government. They are destroying our economy with each passing day and new power grabs. Business responds to tax cuts and tax reductions and what is good for business will in the end be good for our economy and that would mean more jobs. Foisting Unions on Walmart and other business that are doing fine without them and raising taxes will not help business or consumers. Democrats seem more interested in gaining more control of peoples lives with government than enlarging America's GDP

Americans in high tax states are voting with their feet and leaving. And the states with the highest income taxes such as New York, California, and Hawaii, are facing the biggest revenue shortfalls.

In spite of being warned that liberal class-warfare tax-the-rich-to-extinction policies would lead to Dodo-bird results, New York attacked the rich with a 31% income tax hike. And all they have to show for their eat-the-rich tax policies is record revenue shortfalls.

I have yet to hear even ONE reason from the resident gulls as to why they would support such a takeover. There's nothing in this for anyone.......except power hungry socialists. The poor already got medicaid, the rich can pay outright if they want (and if they are allowed to do so), and the middle class gets screwed through higher premiums, the threat of prison, and rationed care.

one reason for what? you can't argue against a lie, which is all you've posted.

Try again without cutting and pasting an op-ed from somewhere else.
