ASHEVILLE — City police are investigating the deaths of two homeless men at the same site near the downtown over a three-day span.

The body of Jeffrey Reynolds, 23, was found Friday night behind an abandoned building at 39 Banks Avenue, Asheville police Sgt. Dave Romick said.

Shortly after 11 a.m. Monday, the body of Floyd Hill, 64, was found there. The site is known as a gathering and camping spot for homeless people.

Banks Avenue, off Coxe Avenue, is a few blocks south of Patton Avenue.

Investigators say they don’t believe foul play was involved in either case. Both men were from the Asheville area.

Autopsy results have not been released, but Romick said neither man showed any signs of physical trauma.

“We’re expecting an overdose or some kind of medical situation,” he said of the deaths.

Reynolds’ family members who went to the camp Monday alerted police about Hill, Det. Josh Burleson said.

“They decided to go to the scene where their loved one had passed and found him (Hill),” Burleson said.

Whatever became of Larry Heiskell? He live upstairs at 39 Banks Avenue for 20 years. He sold dope, kept rattlesnakes in his apartment, took the virginity of 15-year-old girls, hung out with dirty cops, and pretended to rebuild H-D Motorcycles as a cover for his chop shop and other illegal activities. He smoked so much powerful sin semilla weed and stayed so stoned all the time that he didn't know whether he was coming or going.
Last I saw or heard of him he was with Larry Liner at C. M. Owenby's Avery Creek Airport when Liner died in a stall/spin accident in the first flight of his rebuilt Cessna 150.
