Two Rutherford County deputies resign after being charged in the beating of a 19-year-old. Deputy Bill Short and Sergeant Steve Reynolds are charged with assault inflicting serious injury. Reynolds is also charged with obstruction of justice.
19-year-old Robert Suttle was at an underage drinking party in Ellenboro on January 9th when deputies raided the house. Suttle says he was beaten repeatedly on the head with a flashlight, and Reynolds used a taser on him several times.
Sheriff Jack Conner asked Reynolds and Short to resign and they did. The sheriff will now tell his deputies not to carry anything they could use as a weapon that they`re not trained with, like the flashlight Reynolds allegedly used to beat Suttle.
The charges against Reynolds and Short are misdemeanors. Their first hearing is set for April 9th.Deputies Charged In Brutality Case Resign

Yes, I believe this would be flashlight torture, and that is what some LEOs use the flashlight for: torture. The people who have been flashlight-killed have suffered an excruciating torture death.

So, did you find out about the modes of flashlight torture? Puts a new twist on the wide wide world of flashlight killing.

Woof...

Flashlights are being used in situations where a baton or a gun would never be used. People are being almost killed who are not fighting or attacking the police. You need to understand that flashlights are being used for torture. They are being used on restrained people, chidren as young as 6 years old, and the unarmed elderly. Flashlight abuse and inappropriate flashlight use is wrong.

The more repeated flashlight strikes, the higher the potential for death.

The flashlight can kill a healthy adult. Extrajudicial execution is just wrong if the suspect is not harming the police or attacking with a deadly weapon. It is un-American. It is murder.

You must know by now that "excited delirium" is not a valid diagnosis or condition, it is a farce perpetuated by flashlights international.

Woof!

Anybody want to bet on which Circuit Court of Appeals will rule on the next unconstitutional flashlight beating?

The 9th and the 11th have spoken.

The way I see it, flashlight use should be BANNED immediately. The potential for misuse, torture, and death is much too great.

Mark my words, FLASHLIGHT International's days are numbered...

Bravo!(standing ovation) Thank you for bringing this deadly problem to our attention, fortessman! Yes, indeed, the five cell ("D" batteries) Maglite is definitely a deadly force that should be evaluated. The bright light blinds the perp and they don't know what is coming next until the resounding thud cracks their skull. You are to be commended for using the standard format of multiple posts to bring this to our attention! Woof!

Just trying to save Zonga some trouble...

God knows we wouldn't want her to have to take on flashlights - especially in addition to tasers. That's more work than a body can handle.

Besides, the thought of threatening thugs terrifying and torturing tiny tots with terrible thuds & ticking tasers time after time really tingles my tummy...

You know what looked good on Charlie "Flashlight" Banks? A motorcycle tire tread mark! He was a prime example of a little power going to someone's head! Yep, a legend in his own mind!
