As a Wiccan Priestess from the Western NC area, I send my kudos to Lady Passion and Coven Oldenwilde for their attempts to save the magnificent old tree in Asheville.
You who scoff and condemn Wicca and other Pagan faiths should realize that you most likely deal with one or more of us every day. Paganism is one of the fastest growing religions in the United States, where, at least in theory, we have freedom of religion and are allowed as citizens to believe or disbelieve as we wish.
The clerk in your local market may be Pagan, your next door neighbor may be Pagan, the parents of your child's best friend, even (gasp) some of your friends or coworkers may be Pagan. We do not push our religion on anyone else, we do not seek or encourage converts, adult or children. You will not see us in ritual garb walking through your communities on Saturday "spreading the Word." If one is drawn to learn about our faith, there are many opportunities available, from covens such an Oldenwilde, individuals like myself, and a wealth of books and web sites with basic information.
As for the insulting remarks made about the ritual, some Christian church services I have attended could be described in the same way, especially by someone totally ignorant of the religion. As a former Christian who attended services given by many different denominations, I can truthfully say some were way out there.
Until we, the human race, can learn to at the very least tolerate our differences, until we cease to think the Earth is our playpen to destroy at will, the future will continue to be bleak indeed. And don't think it doesn't matter to you because you won't be here, we do live forever, inasmuch as we will be back and inherit the mess we left behind during out last trip.
Well said, your right.

As a Christian, I am saddened by your remarks. This is not the way to lead someone to Christ. This is not the way Jesus taught. Who are we to judge? If you feel that someone is doing something that is not the right way, you don't need to insult them, you need to pray. By doing this your way, you are only making Christianity look hypocritical.

That really don't help your position.
It's "Hades" not "haties". Your telling him that your hatred is deserving of his. That in his disrespect of you and your beliefs, he is right.

Froggy's wife is from India, Her sister was killed trying to reach the airport to come here. Islam has made Froggy hate and you folks that keep slapping him with your bible are making him hate you too. I'm Sorry that I told him about this thread. I thought it might show him that other people have his same fears. I was wrong. You don't deserve his anger. It's my fault.
The "YOU PAGAN" remark fits me more than it does him. See, He was a Christian. Now he's more agnostic. He can't seem to reach the fact that it's people that cause religions to be evil. God just watches in astonishment as his children turn into beasts and create the evil we see daily.
He has seen enough death to last all of us a lifetime and for that, I am truly sorry. I'm also sorry that you folks had to ketch his rant.
In all things, be blessed.

Please get this straight: Paganism is an umbrella term for MANY religions, not just wicca.

Fine but that is not an answer. These attacks need to stop on all sides I feel. Your in danger of (if not already) look childish as those you fell attack you. I grow weary of being judged by those who think that people like yourself represent the rest of use. Do you wish to be treated with respect then show it even to those who attack you. The ones who don't grow-up usually fall away and the rest help to make a more open world.

arguing about religion is a never ending battle. earth religions were here long before christianity. people will chose their own religion and do what is best for them.

Why are so many christians throwing out Jesus as the one true savior? Perhaps he did die on the cross. Perhaps he was resurrected 3 days later. Perhaps not. What I am trying to say is that people will have their own beliefs and that does not make one religion any better or more truthful than the next. At least the Wiccans are doing something. What are the Christian's here doing besides putting down on others?

I have said this in other forums and I will say it again now. A true "Coven" would never ever seek this type of attention.

Those who run around calling themselves wiccan priestesses reduce themselves to comedy. They are ill-dignified and constantly stirring up strife. All you have to do is read these posts to understand that this so called "wicca" is a foul thing indeed. Even the nutcase rascists are embracing it.

Wicca was pretty much started by a fella named Gardiner, and even he instructed wicca's novices to practise in silence and secrecy. This type of noteriety is just downright silly and brings out the shameful in all exposed to it.

Dixie wouldn't know a real coven if she sat down and had tea with them. "Wiccan Priestess", boy, that is rich.

My grandmother, who belonged all of her adult life to a very quiet "Quilting Society", use to say "if you take a little religion, add a little mental illness and stir it to vigerously? It will explode".

She was right.
