I heard that Publix supermarkets was the largest stockholder in Ingles, and would absorb this company upon Mr. Ingles death. Is that true?

Publix is a Great Chain of Supermarkets, it would be great if the two businesses merged!

Well comrade Ghost Dog,maybe you should suggest to your Imam Furhur Barat Hussein Obama that he nationalize Ingle's and Publix.

I really see Ingles and Whole Foods merging. Mr. Ingle has done a lot for this area and will be missed. He had a good life and was always willing to help out. A lot of his help came with the notion that you could not say he sponsored you. He was not wanting to be recognized for the things he did a lot of the time.

I hope this is true but there no Publix Supermarkets in North
Carolina at all I kind of doubt it. I can't help but laugh at the new sign in my local Ingles proclaiming "Best Meat in Town". What a joke....Ingle's meat is the worst(#1 reason...NO TASTE)!!! I travel an hour and a half to the Publix markets in Greenville SC to get my meat....since there is absolutely NO comparison to Ingle's meat! I was told about 2 years ago by a Publix manager that there'd be no Publix markets in this area until Mr. Ingle passed away. Having said that I do want to send the Ingle family my sincere condolences.

This really isn't the thread for your complaining. If you must, start a new one. Learn to be respectful of the feelings of others.

I remember when I was a child we would wave to Mr. Ingle while he was pounding his country style meat behind the glass butcher shop window. He would just smile and wave back at us.

Several years ago, at the Smokey Park Ingles - a real nice older gentleman asked to help me take my groceries out. We chatted on the way out, and I, not being from there, had no idea who he was. He visited with me a few minutes and my husband met us at the car from the license bureau. My husband immediately walked up and said aren't you Mr. Ingle? He acknowledged and requested we both just call him Bob. From what I hear, he was a very unpretentious gentleman, and it seems the community will surely be at a loss without him. Sincere condolences to the family and friends of this fine man.
