THIS IS FANTASTIC. IT REMINDS ME OF DAYS OF OLD,WHEN THE ONLY GOOD STATIONS AROUND HERE WERE THE OLD FORMAT OF KISS FM AND WISE THE OLD FORMAT. THOSE WERE THE TWO MOST LISTENED TO STATIONS GROWING UP.OH AND ROCK 95.

I moved away 5 years ago to Charleston SC and since then my mother has been begging me to move back home. I always tell her that when Asheville gets a good rock station I'll consider it(which I never thought would happen)..well..Looks like I might be packing my bags!! I can't wait to come home to visit so I can check it out!!

Unless this station forgoes idiot DJ's and wall to wall commercials, I'll stick with XM.

Same here. No stupid chat, no "morning team", just music.

Just another branch of the corporation that ruined the Lee legacy. I won't be listening. S.B.

Come on guys give them a chance. The signal is very week on the east side of town. They need to work on the coverage.

NOPE, not me.
I couldn't believe they opened with Axel Rose--ughhh...(I read this, did not listen) Axel may be all right, but I would have picked 'Walkin the Dog" by Aerosmith. LOL

JUST more Big Corporate Money taking over the airwaves.

I personally wish them well. I just hope they choose not to do those stupid oldies weekends. Those get on my nerves. However, Im more prone to slipping a CD into the player. And I do like XM, myself.

And I dont care for those bantering morning teams, either. If I want to banter in the morning, I can do that with my other half.

If it wasn't for junk they pulled off the internet, the morning teams would have nothing to say. To give the devil his due, Howard Stern comes up with more original material that any morning personality around. (John Boy and Billy might be close seconds, but with way, way, too many commercials)

John Boy and Billy are terrible. And you can't change the station what they aren't on every damn one of them at the same damn time. Damn Corporate junk. Mornings are for CD's.

I don't see what there is to complain about. We've finally got another music option in WNC.
Plus radio's completely free, they give free tickets, they give free prizes. And if you get bored or don't like the DJ you make the tremendous effort to reach up and change the station.

My take is 105.9 is playing some great rock.

Give it time, 60-90 days, they will still play rock, perhaps as many as 5 or 6 tracks an hour, and the rest of the time will be filled with inane chatter from DJ's that think they are witty and commercials.

What I want to know is why Ed Seeger and his cronies were given another frequency? I wonder who was paid under the table?(Somehow, I'm not surprised that Tony Kiss jumped on the bandwagon to suck up to them, he should have covered the Lee's story and how they got screwed but he ignored it, and the newspaper completely dropped the ball on what went on.)

I don't listen to WOXL and I won't be listening to this station, no matter what the format. At least this time Asheville Radio Partners didn't lie to the listeners about the format, like they did with WOXL.(The oldies format was chosen month's before they went on the air, yet they had the nerve to claim
"We want to know what you want to hear." People like this are not to be trusted.)

If anyone should have been given a frequency, it should have been the Lee's! They were screwed out of their business and never got a dime of the money the FCC got for the 96.5 frequency.

If anyone needed to be given a chance, it's the Lee family, not more corporate robot radio.

Doesn't matter to me. I won't support people who helped screw a local family out of a business they were in for over 40 years.

Me neither Jessica. And to beat all, here we have that weasley McCain wanting to be president---and his meddling with the FCC over that frequency put him on my 'No Fly' list permantly.

I believe that the 'owners' of that new woxl said,'the days of mom and pop business are over' when they took control of the Lee frequency. WHAT A CROCK and McCain helped the big corporate bunch during all of this. Shows you where the politicians stand on the American way of life. I am still pis*ed as hell over this.

And to who ever spoke about 'freebies' from corporate---go ahead and get your feebies, take all you can get---I will pay my own way than listen to likes of this bunch.
