For every problem there is a single Republican answer: tax cuts. Simple arithmetic reveals the stunning shortsightedness of this proposition. The federal government collects about 17 per cent of GDP in tax revenues. That roughly equals the outlays on social security, Medicare, Medicaid, veterans’ benefits, defence and interest payments on debt."

So lets start cutting all the "fat" out of those and other entitlement programs first. If have of what is planned to be spent is to come from cutting waste and fraud -- do it first; then come asking for more money. As of now the government can't manage itself yet it wants to manage its citizens money. What household can survive when its debt is 200% of its income; none. Yet that is exactly what is being done in Washington! Independents hold no allegiance to Democrats or Republicans and neither party understands that -- yet! They will both learn this game is played between the 40 yard lines.

And you forgot the part regarding cutting big government waste programs that end up only being bailed out yet again by the taxpayer. Tax cuts help business grow which hires more people. Tax cuts give people money to go out and spend on things that they need for their families and homes. The more people that are unemployed means less people paying taxes and purchasing items which means less sales tax revenues.(Not to mention the cost to the states regarding unemployment claims). The problem with socialism is eventually you run out of other peoples money.

He was never on the right path in terms of jobs. For crying out loud, he had ties to ACORN which contributed to putting people in homes they could not afford which was part of the real estate bust.
Nancy Pelosi's health bill will cost tax payers upwards of a trillion dollars while putting many insurance companies out of business.
Their efforts to redistribute the wealth and bailout the UAW are the very types of policies which have driven jobs over seas.
Cap & Trade will also drive many companies to relocate their facilities to third world countries where they do not have to adhere to such stringent environmental and labor laws.
This is all supposed to get people back to work and fix the economy how?
Please enlighten me!!

I have often wondered just how great this nation might have been if FDR had left things alone. Oh, I suppose some of the public works projects would have been okay for the short term, but the massive way that his policies grew government have done nothing but hamstring our nation for decades.

Trickle down must do something as it has kept up many who do not work for years and live off of the government. It is not the unemployed or welfare crowd that pays taxes and keeps the economy going. Maybe if those who continue to have four or five kids would become responsible, there would be less carbon footprints and less drain on the working taxpayers.

That's nothing but a synopsis of a Harvard paper. Irregardless, there is little doubt that even bad trickle down economics is better than Keynes' ideas, which are disastrous every time they are used. Case in point...............NOW.

No government ever created a job that creates wealth, the private sector creates jobs that actually create wealth. Period, simple fact.
