we will miss Tamara very much - from what I understand she has decided to homeschool her 3 children - a noble step...she wasn't afraid to go against opinion and ask questions...I wish her only the best of luck in her future.

Let me see if I understand this correctly. This individual was on the School Board, thus giving her a very good inside look at the school system and she decides to home school her children. MMMMMM. Additionally, the should really look for a fiscally responsible individual as a replacement. Most School Boards are comprised of individuals who are generally "pro-education" and we do need a few people to counterbalance this effect and save us a little in taxes.

Oh yes, Just what we should be looking for a school committee member.. Someone "anti-education!"
Get real! |

we saw in Ashby first hand some of what her tenure was like and the politics that came with it - we as parents are still struggling with these cut throat politics in our 3rd grade - with a weak principle at the helm we seem to be doomed...I too wish Tamara well - she was first to reach out and talk to parents and teachers alike unlike our former rep.

You sort of ignored the word, "fiscally responible". I also did not say "anti-education", I said we needed a "counterbalance". Maybe I should have used the word, "moderating group". The point is that most School Boards are comprised of indivuduals who are somewhat biased in their support of education and taxpayers need someone at the table concerned with ever increasing expenses, teachers salaries and benefits. The other issue that has to be addressed in the near future is both teacher and student measurement. You would think that a group (teahers and management) that is so well educated could come to some sort of agreement on how to measure both teachers and students but all they do is debate the subject endlessly. Because of this void I'm not sure if we really know what is being accomplished with all the money we spend on our educational system. |
