I think we've heard all we need to know and what everyone already knew...It's not going to save any money, NM is not going to get any additional services, there will be fewer opportunities for competitive sports, and it will cost more money. The only one who stands to benefit is Marshall for the additional salary she is going to want to screw up an even bigger district. So now can we start working on educational issues such as improving less then stellar MCAS scores, work on a plan to educate more special education students in the district, and explore alternative ways to address the structural problems at the high school.
It's time for Marshall to step up to the plate and tell the state that we've further explored regionalizing with Lunenberg, it's not going to work, and we have more pressing issues to address!!!

I agree. Let's stop wasting time. No one wants this merger.

Now could someone look at how much more money it cost NMRSD to close two schools as a cost savings,(but not really close them just cram students into smaller classrooms so admin can have big offices in Peter Fitz), as opposed to just keeping those schools as the fine elementary schools that they were?

New leadership needed in NMRSD.

Okay residents of Townsend, Pepperell, and Ashby each town would have had to pay MORE than they already do if the merger was already in place. Yet the NMRSC members still continue to entertain this. Marshall still continues to push it and if you read the article you would see why. In the article it states that NM would no longer be able to share administrators and teachers as they do now. This means Marshall would get a big fat check as reward for screwing up the district and then leaving. It is not worth the increased spending to get rid or her. Also none of the member towns can afford the increased assessment plus we get two additional schools that need repairs to go along with the high school. We the taxpayers and parents need to make sure we strike this deal down, attend town meeting and vote against it we cannot afford it and we cannot let MM get rich on this and leave us with a huge debt. I urge parents and residents to run against any school committee member who is up for re-election we must take our schools back and do things that are for the kids.

The only school committee member to vote against this is Joann Clermont.

That is true Jonna is a spitfire unfortunately she has to deal with Silva and his butt buddy MM. The rest of the SC are mindless wimps who will not challenge or stand up to them. Silva violated open meeting laws on 6/7 and none of them would even recognize it in fact if you want to address the SC they will decide if you can speak or not. This is suppose to be about education for the kids not the Silva bunch. If you have two people and an incumbent running vote for the two one will win but don't put the same person back in. Silva thinks he is untouchable and is cocky and rude.
