Speeds reaching 100 mph, WHAT! This Official should be fired for letting some cop drive that fast, what would of happened if they killed someone! Another police lawsuit costing taxpayers money. Good common sense used by the Wesminster Police maybe the FPD should follow their lead!

Chief DeMoura should suspend these reckless officers!

"The chase itself was handled as best as it could be handled," said Lt. Kevin O'Brien. "I was very, very proud of the way they handled it. These guys did an outstanding job."

Are you kidding me! They should all be brought up on charges!

These cops could have killed someone, they deserve to be fired!

Did anyone watch the Channel 7 news about the cops that killed two people in CT chasing someone?

These cops are too dangerous to be allowed to continue be cops. Chief Demoura fire these crazy people.

these people robbed an old lady of her purse and had done it several other times in leominster. so what is the cop supposed to do just let him drive off so he can victimize more people and get more brazen and possibly kill someone. You same people critizing today would be yelling tomorrow because the cops do nothing. the only way this stops is for a judge to slam dunk people caus that that create these dangerous situations.

Stolen pocketbook or dead people, well I'll take the stolen pocket book. The cops already had the names of the people so why try to kill innocent people with a car chase at 100 mph. Seems to me that the cops overreacted like the Fitch cops always do. Time to get some reason in that place, the Chief should fire these clowns before they kill someone.

A 100 miles an hour for a stolen pocketbook?

What are the cops thinking they could have killed someone.

Who was worse the pocketbook crooks or the wacko cops chasing them at 100 miles an hour

Chief Demaro should investigate these out of control cops and how about the guy in the paper saying good job, what is that all about.

A chase like this where a purse was snatched was hardly a reason for 100 mph car chase through 4 communities, on some of the curviest roads in Worcester County.

This is why I have said that the FPD, has a lack of training. I remember one time in Maine in 2006, a chase after two armed robbers, that injured an officer in a t-bone style accident, enough resources were put after the subjects,(in-fact a volunteer firefighter heard the alert on his scanner, was able to locate and follow the suspects), and then the County Sheriff's Dept, and the State Police were able to move in concert, to follow the subjects in a 10 mile slow-speed chase, that ended with the stop sticks. Thus on a highway that was a curvy, as the roads as that occured that evening.

If the FPD is going to use deadly force over a purses snatching, for good PR, that isn't good police work.

Or does the namesake of the bridge on Route 2A in Westminister, give any officer any forethought as to why chasing a purse snatcher at 100 m.p.h?

Purses, Cell Phones and Credit Cards can be replaced. I remember losing one...in Fitchburg, and while angry about it, and said "I'd rather break the suspects neck", the FPD officer said "it could be replaced, but not someones life."

Apparently...things have changed...

An overhaul of this department is needed immediately! Praise for a 100 mile an hour chase over a stolen pocketbook, what is next?

The Mayor needs to order a review of the situation and fire all those involved that were neglegent, starting with the man offering praise for the cops driving crazy.

Mayor Wong help the City before these people kill someone.

So what would warrant a high speed chase? What would you all be saying if the chase was called off and the same suspects did this again and this time assaulted someone and killed them? Or they decided there was not enough money in purse snatching and broke into a home and killed an entire family?

What you are saying is, if someone breaks the law then all they have to do is flee and they will stay free.

Okay, let's think about this. The "purse snatcher" had been linked to MULTIPLE robberies in the area during the pursuit, traveled through and involved the police departments of not just Fitchburg, but THREE other towns (that must be quite a few "out of control" cops). So easy to judge a situation from the sidelines, isn't it? At no point in the article that I saw did it say that the officers ever reached 100 miles per hour, if the drug addict was even aware of his speed, and no one was hurt. Thank you to the officers for getting yet another criminal off the streets of Fitchburg, and making it just a little bit safer for me and my family. And please accept my apologies for the ignorance you have to endure for your efforts. Please know that this resident appreciates all you do.

The article quotes a police employee saying the purse snatchers reached speeds of 100 mph, soooo that means the cops chasing them right on there butts were going 100 or close to it, to keep up with the pruse snatchers.

Well I guess it's bad boys but thats for the cops.
Maybe when the cops kill one of your family members you'll change your mind.

Killer, dangerous cops do not belong in Fitchburg.

Typical liberal bleatings.

Good job to all the local PDs. Get the scum off the streets. Complain when scum gets away, complain when scum gets caught.

A serious beating is what's needed.

"The cops shouldn't speed to catch him, cause he hasn't killed anyone yet and only stole a purse".

Give me a break.

You'd be singing a different tune if they let him go and then killed his kids. This idiot was a bomb waiting to go off. His family lived in fear. The cops did society a favor by throwing him and his brother away.

All the critics in this post would be singing a much different tune if they were the victims, they were HEROIN addicts, they are a huge danger to society, as if an un-licensed,homeless HEROIN addict that is behind the wheel of probably a stolen white Toyota, isn't bad enough, they are out mugging people for credit cards. As state above, this chase was handled very well, and I personally believe the Police to have done nothing wrong, those people needed to be off the streets ASAP. Next time someone steals your stuff, feel free not to call the police, because obviously, its not that big of a deal
