This particular section of road is notorious for hydroplaning, black ice and poor drainage. Both drivers in our family have had near accidents here. Ask any experienced driver who drives that road daily. You will find most have slipped, hydroplaned, or even done a 360 on black ice. The “teen” factor in this accident should not be the focus!

I live down the street and constantly see people driving way to fast down these roads. This is a bad spot and I'm sure the wet roads didn't help but speed may have been a factor.

My cousin was one of the people flown to UMass. Her boyfriend was the one driving and NO they were not speeding. The road was wet.

Well kiddo, I've driven that road in the RAIN, SNOW, SLEET, and I have yet to leave the pavement, of course I am experienced enough to slow the heck down in bad weather. How come abot 150 cars drove the road that day and that was the only car that had an accident? By looking at the pictures of the wreck, they were traveling well beyond the speed limit.
