Great that Aiello is gone. Janow should be next as he made an idiot of himself (yet again) at the last meeting. Too bad he could not see the imitations of himself in the parking lot after the meeting. Unfortunately he has two years left but at least he is relegated to the status of an ineffective minority. Hopefully at the next meeting he'll be even more worked up - definitely entertaining. Keep up the good work everyone!

Maybe the new police commissioner will know how to set up a roadblock when a resident with a handgun in his vehicle attempts to leave the village via the one and only road so Northport PD doesn't have to save the day again.

Changes are great when implemented properly. I think she should have had more of a transition. I am not a Bill Kelly fan but he did run the village properly and we are in good shape financialy. Why do we need to pay to review everything . With what she is doing it will takes months for the village to get back in order and at what cost. I am starting to reconsider my vote I have made three calls to our new mayor and not one returned funny how before she was elected she returned.

Did Steve ever try pulling out of a driveway along Asharoken Avenue? It's tough: with many blind spots along the road. There's a VERY good reason why the speed limit is 30MPH.

Sorry Mayor Irving...the real reason to attend an Asharoken meeting is to witness the Janow Buffoonery. Stay tuned folks: next "show" at 7:30PM, August 4.

The past police commissioner was the best we ever had. He worked hard and established a great relationship with the police force and all of the Asharoken residents. On top of that, he raised almost $250,000 in donations for the new building fund. Why was he dismissed? It doesn't seem fair!

Quit 'yer whining. New administrations bring in their own people, that's simply the way things are done in the U.S., get over it. Besides, Mel Ettinger had his run as commissioner and was in no way as swell as you describe. I applaud Pat Irving for having the balls to clean house thoroughly. Too bad it isn't within her power to get rid of all the dead wood like Alexander Janow, still in the middle of his current elected term.

And speaking of the new building, why does tiny Asharoken need this massive police presence and a huge new building that is a virtual country club for them? While other affluent, wiser Long Island communities such as Cove Neck, Mill Neck, Laurel Hollow and Greenport choose to disband their private police forces altogether, we continue to feed a growing monster. How rash and unwise. It's time for other village residents to grow a pair and speak up against this.

In this country, new administrations bring in their own people. That's just how it works, so get over yourself. Besides, ex-commissioner Mel Ettinger was not nearly as swell as you make him out to be.

I for one applaud Pat Irving for having the balls to clean house. Too bad she can't get rid of all the Kelly Cronies and fire Alexander Janow, who is still in the middle of his elected term.

And speaking of the police: exactly why does tiny Asharoken need such a large police force -- somewhere around a dozen officers on multiple shifts at last count -- and a huge new clubhouse for them? Other affluent, wiser Long Island communities such as Mill Neck, Cove Neck, Laurel Hollow and Greenport have gotten rid of their private police forces altogether, while we continue to feed the monster. How rash and unwise. It's time for other village residents to grow a pair and speak up against this.

"Best we ever had" not sure about that but he has worked hard and done a good job. Pete Masterson is a smart guy and will probably do a good job and I wish him well. We just need to hope his wife does not get involved she is nice but NUTS. I also wish the new clerk well she has some BIG shoes to fill. Dots a hard one to replace. Can you believe the new mayor didnt even acknowledge her service. That was a CLASSLESS MOVE and all of us as residents should do something about it.

Daily Horoscope for January 2

Virgo

It's okay to have high expectations, but try to keep in mind that no one can be all things to all people. As the Moon spends one last day in its current sign, it urges you to find a way to recognize others for their strengths, and forgive them their weaknesses. Virgoans' idiosyncrasies must look like strange quirks from the outside as well! Fate ties up the loose ends towards the end of the day.
