This may or may not be a good time to ask but since I got no replies before and it looks like there is a lot of attention on here at the moment, I will try again.

I am a retired Deputy Sheriff from Eastern Arkansas and I am looking for a place to deer hunt. Either by permission or leasing hunting rights.

Anyone know of anything?

It really bothers me that you have had no replies. Even if someone doesn't know of land leases in the area, they could at least say hello.

I recommend you call a lovely, knowledgeable lady here in Hardy, AR, a realtor who often has hunting land, and knows everyone. Her name is Linda Green at Video Realty in Hardy. Tell her Linda K., up on the mountain, told you to call her.

PS My dear husband is retired law enforcement.

Good hunting....

Thank you so much! I was beginning to wonder if I forgot to put my right guard on or something! I know ya'll have some bad water problems over there so good luck and God be with you.

The reason you may not have had any response is because the people here don't take to kindly to letting strangers hunt their land. You have to know someone that lives here that either owns land or get in good with someone who knows someone who owns land. I know from personal experience our land was trashed, burned and the livestock messed with last deer season and when dad confronted the trespassers we found out they were from Mississippi County. Flatlanders have rubbed us wrong. I do wish you well though.

I guess since I am from Mississippi County that doesn't help me out much. I understand what your saying about knowing someone. I use to hunt between Hardy and Ash Flat years ago, in fact helped fight a pretty good sized fire in the woods over there. Oh well, thanks for the reply and maybe something will come up. I am sorry you had such a bad time with anyone much less someone from my home county. Did they have hunting rights or were they just there? I have owned land and also have had my horses and cattle both shot at so I do know what you are talking about.

No they didn't have permission. I'm very sorry to hear about your livestock. Ours weren't shot but upset just the same. Again, good luck!!

Yes, we do know each other, though not real well. At the moment my name is out in the public very much! That should help you if you give it a little thought. Would love your help if possible.

OOOHHH, I know who you are. I guess you could say you've been out "painting the town red," right?

What a small world it is! I have to stay out of that department, though, because whoever's left at the end, I will be working with.

Good luck finding a hunting lease.
