Vouchers, merit pay, tenure reform, charter schools, property tax caps have all been done in California. They have tried ALL of them and the results?
California went from one of the top states in the nation educationally to the second worst state in the nation. They now score 1 point above Mississippi.
Research has proven over and over that property tax caps destroy local school systems especially those with middle class and poor residents. Merit pay has no effect...they offered teachers in KY 15K more to improve test scores...the result? No change...why? because critics assume teachers are sitting on their arse doing nothing. Rutgers University and STamford have shown that 85% of charters are failures and tenure reform is a joke...it's just a way to get teachers to stop speaking up for the kids and to eliminate any teacher earning a livable salary. Vouchers have been proven twice now to NOT work.
People need to look at WHO is pushing these so called reforms. They are always the extremely rich...since WHEN do RICH WHITE MILLIONAIRES give a damn about the education of little black boys in Newark? They don't give a damn...it's about saving themselves money...they don't give a darn about poor people and their education...it's only about money. If millionaires cared about the little black boys of Newark they would follow RESEARCH PROVEN methods that work...notice every single "reform" that they propose is about making schools "cheaper"...wake up America
