Molly Hatchet, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus To Play POSTED: Friday, November 13, 2009 UPDATED: 7:14 am EST November 13, 2009 ORANGE PARK, Fla.-- The Orange Park community is uniting as they gear up for the Somer Thompson benefit concert lead by legendary southern rock band Molly Hatchet. The benefit concert will begin at 8 p.m. Friday at the Orange Park High School football stadium. Diena Thompson will be the guest of honor for the event. According to band owner Bobby Ingram, they have agreed to help the family of murder victim Somer Thompson and the Justice Coalition to help raise money to increase the reward being offered. Orange Park High School Principal Treasure Picket said, "We are pleased to help with this much needed community outreach project." The band will also debut a specially written tribute song for Somer as well as play their complete concert line-up of music including "Gator Country," "Whiskey Man," "Devil's Canyon," "Beatin' The Odds" and "Flirtin' With Disaster." Rockers Red Jumpsuit Apparatus will also play at the benefit concert. The band is originally from Middleburg. A $10 donation will be taken at the gate to be divided between the Thompson family and the Justice Coalition. In the event of bad weather, the concert will move inside the school's domed gymnasium. Police are still not saying how Somer was killed. Deina Thompson says the not knowing may be the toughest part. "There's nothing a 7-year-old could do to deserve what she's been put through, even though I don't know what that is. But I have my own story in my mind as I've said before. I don't know if it's more gruesome than what's actually happened, but when you're left to your mind it can show you some horrible things," Thompson said. Early Friday afternoon, Lt. Barry Abramowitz, with the Clay County Sheriff's Office, will hold a question-and-answer session with the media. Abramowitz is in charge of the process through which the many leads have been collected, reviewed, assigned to detectives and then tracked through the agency's specialized computer system. For more on the benefits planned this weekend, stay with The Morning Show. Watch for full reports on the investigation beginning at 5 p.m. on Channel 4. Orange Park High School is located at 2300 Kingsley Ave. In Orange Park. You can find the school online at clay.k12.fl.us/oph. Why should this be split 50/50 with the Thompson family and the Justice Coalition? Why not give it all to the Thompson family? The Justice Coalition does not always help a victim of violence and I have the proof. So Mr. Charlie Christ, need to stuff is mouth with a dirty sock, he is fake. The Justice coalition, seems to only be there for certain lets say folks of a different color. I have the proof of Mr. Christ and his mouth popping b/s. Now I would love to see this concert and contribute my part so to spaek for the Thompson family, but refuse to give to the coalition.

No I don't need the state money or the money of the coalition department, already past that. Now "JUSTICE" might be right! From what I can gather, it is quite simple to get away with a crime in "clay county".. No I don't give up on my children, whom by the way are all grown, and should be on their own!! Nope would never turn my back on my child regardless of their age. Again, show me your face..certainly you are not afraid of trailer trash are you? we shall see.

I don't know why the Justice Coalition would accept, ask for or receive any money from this benefit concert for the little girl. Maybe they are underwriting the concert...who knows? On another subject...I'm surprised that a group like this would publish a "tabloid" that's called Justice Coalition and print a photo page called SHAME SHAME SHAME of people who have NOT yet been convicted...just arrested. I wonder why they don't do that with DUI arrests? But actually I don't wonder why, the "shame, shame, shame" people have no money or value to society (maybe some don't) but the average DUI person may VERY WELL be their own and be a prominent person in our fair community.

Sir. I have been harsh with your views in the past but have to completely agree with you regarding the shame section of their paper. If they were truly were for "Justice" rather than a "Just-us" mentality then they wouldn't rush to judge after a mere arrest. My wife just laughed at your take on the DUI's and said that's because it would show all the first baptist members. Apparently "Justice" isn't about getting your day in court anymore.

Once again, Rob, you have hit the nail on the head. There is a very well known crackhead hooker on the westside who has a rap sheet longer than your arm, my arm, and prob everyone elses on here. She has been busted so many times for hooking it and Sheila has yet to make that little section of the Justice Coalition. Could have something to do with the fact that her sister is married to a man who has ran for office may times and also whose family has a very high political record here in Jax.

urban cowgirl, Try sweeping around you own front door, shall I dare say "it takes one to know one?" Here's a good one for you along with a few more: The lowest stage a society can reach is when it's leaders are chosen by their wealth instead of their ability. The first step to knowing wisdom is knowing your ignorance. The best: Watch your thoughts for they become words, watch your words for they become actions, watch your actions for they become habit's, watch your habit's for they become character, watch your charactor for it becomes your destiny.

if they keep giving this woman more money, she will be able to retire. i feel bad for her....god i do...and i know that many of the services were donated by the funeral homes, etc.....and i know that she had to miss some work during all of this...and any money would help...but now it seems she is going to profit from her childs death. and that is not right.
