The second the movie was over last night I turned to my friend, we always compare scores iwth our fingers, 4 being the highest, which we both gave it and the first words out of my mouth were, "Hal Holbrook, best supporting actor nomination, probable win."

By far one of the best movies I've ever seen. I was able to live through Chris, feeling his inspiration to just live, seeking ultimate freedom from the everyday bondage of modern civilization. A life of adventure and living in the present. Excelent cinamatography, breath taking views and the abliity to make you feel like you ARE in Alaska are just some of things you can expect when you see this movie. A wakeup call to the sheep.

I've seen the movie and read the book - both are beautiful. The book is like a bit of good religion for me - seriously. I reckon, with respect to Chris, that in his brief life, he did much. Much more than most his age. I admire his adventurous spirit and his seeking. Why? Because I am a bit of a seeker myself. I love to travel, and am going to hit the road and do my own seeking. Chris has inspired me. I agree with one commentator who wrote that if he had lived, he would make one hell of a teacher. Yes, he would. He was educated, a good writer and had experience in living off the land. Peace Chris.
AN ADMIRER.
