In case you have not heard an 11 year old had to be put in an induced coma after being hit in the face, especially the nose. I do not know what condition he is in, but there needs to be something done. I know bullying was NOT like this when I was in school.

What are parents to do? The schools fail the victim by victimizing the victim more by punishment. Do you think the parents should call the cops after the first time or fifth? Would you confront the parents of the child that is doing the bullying? Would you press charges on the school official who failed to protect your child? Why is the child still in school if there is a zero tolerance for bullying?

First , I would go to the school and have the parents called of the bully and confront them. You need to know if the parents are gonna do any thing to help . The principal needs to know. Then if nothing is done, you need to go to the school administrative office. This should have never escalated to the fifth time. The first day should have been addressed. This is my opinion. I'm do sorry this child went thru this.

Thank you very much for responding! There are many kids who are going through bullying and nothing is done. There are many principals who will talk to the parents, and talk to the child, but the child is not kicked out of school on the first bullying incident and this is where things go on with more bullying. Then the principal will talk to people all over again. While all of this is taking place the bullying is either stopped for a short time till things are back to normal or it does not stop. Do you believe that a child who bullies should be expelled for the first time it happens? I do.

Expelled on first day? No. But suspended, yes. Then if it does not stop then the parent should be liable.

"" Talking to the bully parents will not do one thing to stop this bullying problem "", the parents themselves were bullies when they were in school, the odds are the parents encourage their kids to be bullies.
First thing you do notify the police file child abuse, this will be your first official documentation.
And then Document everything date time and location and names, and if there are medical bills do not lose them.
Only way to put a stop to this type of behavior, go after the Schools and Parents, "consult a law firm out of Carlsbad", the attorneys here in Carlsbad are controlled and paid for.

Confront with police officers along with attorneys and file suit on the schools ,"" the schools are fully responsible for your children while in that school building or property"" that will get their attention.

You have a God given right to protect your children.

Well, I think I'm wrong when I sai suspended. I think he or she should get expelled. And yes go find yourself a lawyer out of Carlsbad. Preferably a big law firm, you have a better chance of them listening to you and taking your case.

if you have medical expenses, sue in magistrate court - U can file a claim yourself and then issue a garnishment

parents are responsible for their kids and dogs if they 'bite' someone

my children have been bullied in the school systems. i didnt think to go to the police, but i will next time thank you for the advice. i agree that talking to the parents will likely do no good as they are probably the main source of the problem, but you have to try or they will say they didnt know. just as some encourage our children to be nice, loving, kind and caring, others encourage their children to be mean. they think they are making them tough, but they are really just making them horrible people. the schools in carlsbad are terrible. you can ask anyone who comes from somewhere else and sees the way children here act. i say someone who comes from somewhere else because they are not desensitized to the attitudes of our population here. principals do nothing. they look the other way, or "talk" to the child. the kid who complains is made to feel like a tattle tail or a cry baby. i must admit i am surprised a bullied child hasnt gone ballistic in this town yet. i fear that is what it will take to prompt change.

I have been there with my two older kids. Someone told my child they where going to kill him at school, I did call the police and they told be it was a school issue that they could do nothing for me.. I have to say the kids doing the bulling are just like there parents they know their kids are doing this and don't care.
