Neighborhood rocked by teen's death

Feigned or genuine, youthful bravado is not enough to completely mask the terror gripping the Central Long Beach street where 15-year-old Jacob Benavidez was gunned down early Tuesday morning.

Councilman Andrews is absolutely correct. The community will suffer until it decides to take it's community back from the gangs. We've seen it over and over again. There are well known methods to fix this. But the people who live there have to get involved.

All I can say is that there are so many Hater's "such as all of you with the negative comments", I am sure the family is not looking to rake in $$(this was obviously unforeseen) over the death of a family member, just going to try to accomplish a decent burial.
With this type of compassion from all of you (which is none) no wonder these type of killings happen.

Yeah, I'm sure Cecil (though that's just the location of his ISP, maybe?) lives in fear of driving his streets late at night or walking his dog up there in San Marino. I know San Marino is home to some pretty notorious gangs--those gardners at the Huntington Gardens are pretty ruthless and the hostesses at the Tea Room are downright hard-core!!

What is this 15 yr old kid doing out this late at night? Furthermore how many mothers would refer to their children as "little players". I feel sorry for the kid but by looking at the pictures with dad and brothers with tattoo's and the mom describing her son as a "player" it seems the odds were against him since Day 1.

MY son was also killed 15 years ago on a walk by shooting. It happened at 2:45pm right after school as he was walking to a soccer game. It doesn't matter what time it was when this little boy was killed, what matter is that someone's son was killed and that this family is suffering. Nobody knows of the pain a mother feels when her son is taken away from her in such a cowardly way. MY HEART GOES OUT TO THE FAMILY AND SPECIALLY THE MOTHER. I FEEL YOUR PAIN. First of all, it was not the mom that made the comment you idiot it was his dad and i was there when he spoke with the press and that's not what he said verbatim! but leave it to idiots like you that believe everything they read!!! My sister raised her Son's to be very well mannered, very respectful and considerate Young Men, Jacob was one of her 5 Son's, Jacob's older brothers have all graduated high school and have moved on to college, and/or are living producitve lives raising their own children!
