Wear SEAT BELTS sheeeeesh, why cant people get that through their think skulls. Wear a flipping seat belt. Especially kids, I cant tell you how many "lappers" (lap sitters) I see on a dialy basis. I pray for those poor kids everyday. It is only a matter of time.

I always ask people to wear their seatbelts or I'm not driving. Some people tend to not wear it if they sit in the car's back seat.

I'm sure the guy driving the van was at fault... sad story.

You gotta turn your head and look before making a lane change.

I bet the Mitsubishi could have put the brakes on hard enough to avoid the accident. The van driver needs to signal intent and move much slower to the left. I did a creeping lane change the other day and it totally saved the day. I was like two inches away from someone who was acting like I was the one ignoring her as she totally allowed what happened without a horn or a swerve or a brake slowing or anything. I didn't adjust the right mirror correctly but now I always look over my shoulder instead when possible. Do your lane changes slow on top of the forewarning plan.

I was just thinking that! I always turn my head when i switch lanes. I learned that when i almost cut of a CHP on the freeway for not looking over my shoulder. I got a ticket that day. I've been looking over my shoulder ever since and that was almost 20 years ago.

The story would have had a happier ending if you were one of the people ejected and killed.

Grow up, stupid.

I was on this fwy when it happened. They had us at a complete stop for like an hour before I got fed up and did some illegal driving myself to switch fwys. God bless their souls

" Michael Harris, 67" ... I don't know any "mojados" with that last name. You are wrong this time racist dude.
That's just as racist as the other guy. I know plenty of Smiths in Baja California, especially in San Ignacio where the whole family has lived for generations alongside the mission there. Don't forget President Fox, too.

I think it should have read, "all of whom who were not wearing seatbelts."
Also, there is no need to repeat the direction of travel twice for the vehicles involved. The No. 1 lane, carpool lane are the same thing.
