the hills are alive

There is a nasty rumor going around that the project is about to begin with permits ??????
Then I heard about a bulldozer up there. What's going on?
#2 Aug 14, 2013
Project can't start without an approved Final Environmental Impact Report.
A Revised Environmental Impact Report is expected to come out soon.
Waaaaaaay too early for any speculation on how the council will vote yet.
If ANY type of "project related" work is being conducted now,(in violation of CEQA) it will be a plus for the opponent's side if a lawsuit is filed.

It's an active oilfield
Are you insinuating that the oil company is jumping the gun?
#4 Aug 15, 2013
This is how rumors get started. Nothing being built yet but be end of 2014. Montebello needs it or off into the oblivion. This council is impotent. Barajas, Cortez, and Molinari can't see the forest for he trees. They would rather protect their stipends and perks on the council then do their jobs as elected officials.

The hills are alive- with gnatcatchers
Any oilfield maintenance will be very careful.
Cook-hill is doing extensive habitat development in a doughnut around their proposed project.
Then propose to herd the birds from their preferred nesting sights (the high ground).
Gnatcatchers do no herd.
So they propose to kill them off.
Let's call it little Egypt

Lol, now that's funny!
#7 Aug 15, 2013
Theolona's not going to think you LOL is funny.
she said the other day that Little Old Ladies need love too :)
We all want PXP to make money,
Montebello get's a cut.
Bulldozing new well pads make sense
Directional drilling makes sense
Bulldozing gnatcatchers would be a Federal Offence
The are not that stupid,
but maybe getting desperate.
Perhaps some think they can just act now then apologize later- WRONG.
Is there really any value in this project for PXP's new owners or just for Cook-Hill insiders?
Are they still insiders?

If Molinari loses and Cortez gets her cronies in, the council (and the city) will be a lost cause. The hills will be the last thing on the agenda unless...she sees it as a way to get some bucks out of Cook Hill. They only care about building irrespective of who their three votes come from. They know she can be bought. If Barajas wins they can count on his vote but pass along a few bucks to his two-bit band first. Expect a lot of special interest money this election with PO boxes from strange cities. Good old Montebello, the Beverly Hills of East LA. My a#%! Let the games begin.
#9 Aug 15, 2013
So with that being said.
What will happen if Christina and her chronies get in?
What will be the downfall? Why would it be bad? Where will they decide the city need to spend its money?
More handouts for the "non profit" sports groups at grant rea?$150 for my sons baseball? Please!

Has she learned her lessons?
"Public Safety" Unions
Gay and Lesbian Alliance
add more here
She does not need their "help", "advice" or support
She can throw all of these under the bus and lead or take Montebello and herself on the route of the gang of three.
#11 Aug 16, 2013
Cortez will be taking money from special interests (Ku, Perrin, Sevacherian, Glasman via Atina, and Chris Robles sordid "friends" from outside the city) like she did in her last election to support Daniel Hernandez and "Fabio" Gallarzo to get her three votes. After that all bets are off. Expect first casualties to be the city administrator, police chief, and director of community services. Glasman will be next unless he buys her vote to stay in. The people will then have created a monster and another Rosie Vasquez. Hey, the second coming of Rosie. Hah, hah.
#12 Aug 16, 2013
Do you think Molinari would let Atina work with Christina?(or vice versa)??
City Attorneys only know how to count to three.
Expect Glasman to support whoever wins.
Notice how he came out against Savercherian and Ku and the felon as soon as Rosie lost.
Before the election he was publicly silent.
He still did not put a stop to Rosie's illegally called meetings to hire her pick as City manager allowing the contract (the agenda for the Monday meeting was never posted by the City) and Savercherians which cost the City a fortune to unravel.
What's the bottom line today, status?
#13 Aug 16, 2013
Well, someone has to ask.
What does she have against the police chief, city admin, and director of community services?
She has her own candidates? OR eliminate positions?
Just curious. Lets discuss
#14 Aug 16, 2013
Look at who her supporters were during the first election
Both Police and Fire
did both back her second time around?
Where is Chris Robles?
Billie Martinez- guilt by association.
How can anyone be that stupid ????
City admin seems to be a straight shooter.
Her audits are the only reliable ones.
(and the State's)
Previous audits are all "funny"
But the do show FD illegally going over budget by around a Million a year without the required council approval.
Much went to "funny" overtime.
They got away with it when times were good.
AS soon as the recession hit the house of cards came apart and the greedy almost drove the City into admitting bankruptcy.
Who is director of community services?
How do you find money to play games when the city is broke and no RDA to ????
#15 Aug 17, 2013
Money to play games?
Rec dept. may be the most important to the city. It's the People. We are the people, I'm just learning all the rec people do . All programs are affordable too.
Anyone who suggests a cut there is barking up the wrong tree. Look at the budget stuff online. It's such a small piece of the puzzle.
#16 Aug 17, 2013
P.O. Boxes?? Will candidates be forced to share campaign donations this year??
#17 Aug 19, 2013
???? makes some good points
70+% of the budget goes to Police and Fire Department and not all the expenses are current. A big chunk is being deferred for your kids to try and pay.
Of course they will move out of Montebello...
Parks and Rec and Planning- quality of life items- were cut severely.
Parks and open space generate revenue for the city and local businesses.
Legg Lake has more visitors annually than Yosemite!
Parks and open space and recreation have a greater return on investment (ROI) than other development.
Montebello only has about 20% of the Park Space required for optimal quality of life.
#18 Aug 19, 2013
. Montebello needs to preserve its last remaining open space. Montebello needs to protect its quality of life, not sacrifice it to out of town developers. The Montebello Hills are listed as a "scenic resource" in the city's general plan. Letting out of town developers reduce its elevation by " up to 100 feet" ( who knows really how much they'd cut if given the chance) is a bad idea. We shouldn't be pawns for out of town money interests to enrich themselves while leaving our city and us with a lesser quality of life and long term liabilities.

Parks and recreation is run by a bunch of clowns. The department needs to be cleaned out. Salinas and everyone else there have run a nepotistic department for years. The majority of them are uneducated who could never find employment elsewhere. They stay employed because Christina Cortez and Art Barajas court favors from them in return for helping them keep their jobs. The department has been overspending their budget for years and mainly on salaries. So here you have a bunch of idiots running the department while programs for the kids and seniors go underserved, are poorly managed, using outdated equipment. Better programs can be found in Pico Rivera or, better yet, in Bell Gardens.
#21 Aug 19, 2013
City website doesn't have a salinas?
Anyway. I took my kids from bell gardens into montebello program. I lived in BG, but we came over here. Bell gardens has better soccer field by far, but we like the people here.
I will say this: bell gardens had much much much more to offer and more staff in the parks.
What things in Montebello are under served or use poor equipment? Id like to get involved and bring issues up to the city?
