I hope this is true. Compton needs more jobs and redevelopment some areas with new business. Another restaurants like T.G.I.F(2nd most profitable restaurant in S. California), a movie theater, a bowling alley, a bookstore, a Costco, which all could create jobs and help kids have an alternative to go and play and parents to eat and shop.Hopefully Compton gets back its original name for been a great city. George W. Bush reside in Compton. This would also help the Long Beach area too. "Compton and Long Beach together" Snoop Dogg. LoL

Most likely they will send more restaurants- where I live we have one on every major street corner. And I never see any of them go out of business-

Compton can export some of its wannabe rappers, low level criminals, GR recipients, and the former members of the CPD who want to revive the police department.

China can send Compton lots of cheap and cheerful clothing, toys, kitchen utensils, and tube socks. It's a win-win situation.

What a lavish lifestyle the compton ruling junta have adopted. Just another reminder that if LA County residents could make more pathetic political choices just wait and we will find a way.

I meant former president resided in Compton. T.G.I.F the one located in Compton is the 2nd most profitable T.G.I.F in S. California.

We need to bring back jobs from China to America.

When my parents moved to California in 1957 Compton was called the HUB city; my parents were very hard workers, living in a nice clean neighborhood and through the years Compton had its share of problems. Compton is no longer predominately Black it is largely Hispanic. Many Blacks moved to Lancaster/Riverside/San Bermadino or moved back to the Southern states. See Compton was hard hit with the recession beginning in 1990's. Unemployment among Blacks was high; so many left Los Angeles; It is a great idea that China is willing to bring business into an area that was always passed over because of the largely Black population. Compton is centrally, stratigically placed in Los Angeles close to the Port of Long Beach, freeways and most importantly it is not affected by earthquakes/fires etc. Maybe that is why my parents never moved out of Compton or sold their house, Compton it is like a Pheonix rising again. Most of the riff-raff are gone yeah now Compton can proceed on a more positive note.

Most of the Compton "riff raff" have been enticed to settle in Long Beach. Our Marxist City government attracts the lesser elements of society like moths to a flame. Long Beachs' decline in civic pride from City Hall has been a real boon for all of the surrounding Communities.

We the residents of Compton never stop hoping/dreaming that Compton would become a safer, vibrant and diverse community in the near future.

Don't want to burst their bubble....knowing Compton's history, was this just a freebie vacation for the politicians? Hard to believe they needed to go there in person.

I hope the reporter does a follow up in a couple of months. Way too early to tell. Committments need to be firmed up with actions before declaring victory. Remember Tesla going to Downey?

I wish them well...

Did the mayor go on this road trip? See the recent LAT story, he misses about half of the council and committee meetings because of his full time day job as a district attorney.

It seems to me that there is a conflict of interest between being an elected mayor and a district attorney. If nothing else, the DAs are paid a lot of money and they are not supposed to moonlight. As a lawyer, he cannot serve two masters.

I think it stinks, but I don't live in Compton so I don't really care.

Very good news for the Hub City. Compton has always been a corridor for the Port and Rail. The city is surrounded by for major freeways and driver have easy access to other cities. Hell i imght look into starting a truck wash / truck stop in Comptons soon!

Thank may a great business opportunity. As Long Beach declines into dysfunction, chaos, and insolvency many will be looking to surrounding Cities as a safer place to invest for the future.

Nothing says more about the failure of Long Beach City leaders than the fact that even COMPTON may be a safer bet than Long Beach. Ouch!
