Kim,
It really depends upon the lifestyle you want to live. There is always alot going on in Eureka if you are willing to get out in the community and mingle. The crime rate is low here and people are engaging and friendly. I would recommend you visit and get a sense of the town prior to making a major move, however, we have moved here within the past year and we love it.
If you have a open mind regarding life and lifestyles you probably would be happy here. If you are narrow minded, intolerant of others regarding how they choose to live their lives, this may not be the place for you.
On a scale of 1 to 10, we give Eureka Springs and the Holiday Island area a 10.

How is the market for jobs and rental homes in Eureka Springs? Are there public tennis courts and dog parks in town?

I don't know if they have public tennis courts Skylar but I can tell you what I enjoy and miss and can't wait to move back home for. The swimming is great if you like swimming in rivers and lakes! There are alot of great swimming holes on Beaver Lake and Kings river is great too.( Kinda snakie though)And the Buffalo is not far and wonderfull to swim in too.I always swam in Osage Creek too. Branson isn't far and then Bentonville isnt far either. Both good shopping spots and Job spots. There are alot of festivities in the Spring through Fall all around and mostly in E.S.

Rentals are abundant out on Holiday Island just minutes from Eureka Springs. Tennis courts are great on the island, basketball court, pool, miniature golf, and all around great place to live. Peaceful and wooded community.

And, in my opinion Mike Stone, whoever Mike Stone is, is a piss poor example of the kind of people that live in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Mike Stone is a MINORITY here just based upon his closed minded attitude. If you do not like it here, why don't you move the hell on somewhere else? The world would be better off having more gay people than people like you sir, as you are the epitomy of a Extra Large Jerk. No, I am not Gay, however, I would rather associate with gay people than someone like you any day of the week, month or year.

Just noticed Mikey Stone is from Harrison, no wonder. Hey Mike, do you wear a KKK outfit and burn crosses on your weekend nights off?

Crude and unnecessary mouthing off like this is one thing that doesn't contribute to gay folks' images.

I have to say that we visited ES about 2 yrs ago. Much to my amazement, I must be one of the narrowminded people. I know lifestyles are your own choice but, I for one was not used to seeing the women or the men on the street holding hands or kissing ea other. I am an ordinary white woman, who chooses to go to Church and instill family values, it was a shock to me to see all this, have not been back since. Is April fools day still "the" day for Gays to celebrate?

I never heard of anyone getting mugged or robbed ont the street there, like in some tourist towns. I am thinking of moving there with my wife just to relax and have fun without anyone judging you.

I think it is a wonderful place. Both "sides" ought to be civil about the conversation. I also like Harrison as well. Every town will have ups and downs. I know because I have lived in Upstate Ny and here in Kansas and of course I am from Carroll county so i have lived there too. I really hate the town i live in now BUT I can see the ups and not be so mean to the people who chose to like it here.Eureka is not a horrible place! I find great support there. They are kind to me and my husband ( who is military)When i say "they" I mean not only gays but everyone. Dixi, by being a former waitress in Berryville and ES,I would rather wait on gays than church people that come in on sundays..i am a church goer myself..But i remember crying every sunday i worked in BV because of the horrible church people. They were so mean and demanding. I can tell you i never cried waiting tables in ES.
Does anyone know

Are there any public tennis courts in ES proper? Is there high speed internet service? Is it a dog friendly community?

Says alot about your own deep seated issues. Keep going to church and believe you are the righteous chosen one.

I am retired military, and I have traveled around the globe. Never have I lived in a more relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The closest I have come to this kind of lifestyle was in southern Spain.
If you want to live in a free feeling atmosphere without feeling you have to live up to other people's pressured expectations, this is it. I would recommend Remax if you are looking to purchase a home.

Thanks for your insightful experience. Eureka Springs is a place anyone can find a place to fit in and feel like they belong. Unfortunately wherever there are a group of humans, there is always some who suffer from genetic and behavioral Jerkism. For the most part, Eureka Springs is wonderfully place of acceptance and tolerance.

Daily Horoscope for December 22

Leo

If you ask someone to give you a hand today, don't be surprised if they make a mess of it. That's probably because their mind isn't on the job, but it might also be because your instructions aren't as clear as usual. So before you get angry, check that what you said made sense. Relations with someone older or more influential than you could also be blighted by confusion or doubt now.
