Was there a parade in Santa Cruz, did I miss it?

1 The parade was in downtown Watsonville. I took time off from work to be there but most people can't afford to do that. If they want bigger crowd, they should have it on a weekend. We all want to honor our veterans, but we still have to feed our family. And for most of us, Veterans day or not, Wednesdays aren't usually a day that we can easily take off. |

Thanks Veterans for safeguarding this country! God Bless the USA!! Latrino on his Xbox, playing Modern Warfare 2

The City of Watsonville has always shown appreciation for veterans.
Thank you to the veterans quoted in this article, particularly the mother who served and had to be away from her son for a time. God Bless all veterans, peacetime or war. Very Sincerely, Steve Carr, retired Santa Cruz County Deputy Sheriff Whitefish, Montana |

2 Jennifer: didn't you get the memo? Santa Cruz is ruled by people who hate the military, and probably hate the USA. We can't have any public displays of patriotism here ... it would be "hateful". Look what happened to the US Navy ship visits on the 4th. Look what happened to "our" 4th of July celebrations locally: now we have a celebration of the city, with fireworks. Nope, can't have us sheeple reminded of our nationhood. That might be "hateful". |

Thanks vets for putting it on the line for our freedom.

1 Hey you know what? They could do a fireworks display from the navy ship out in the water and not be a fire hazard. |

Thanks, veterans, for your service and sacrifice.
Perhaps Santa Cruz can invite a Navy ship again on July 4th. Wouldn't that be cool? |

Well my first comment got DELETED for some reason.
First of all i was in watsonville and it was ashamed that not many people came out to support our military. If it wasn't for the catholic school kids right across the street from st patrick church there wouldn't of been that many people. THANK YOU TO ALL THE VETS AND THE ONE'S SERVING. YOU HAVE DONE A MAJOR SACRIFICE FOR YOURSELF, FAMILY, FRIENDS AND PEOPLE THAT YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW. SOME MANY APPRECIATE YOU AND SOME WON'T. JUST GOTTA SAY...THAT FOR MYSELF (SOLDIER) AND MY HUSBAND (VETERAN) AND MY ENTIRE FAMILY YOU GUYS ARE PROTECTING SHIELD. THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR SACRIFICES YOU'VE DONE. (THANK YOU ISNT EVEN ENOUGH WE OWE YOU GUYS!) |

1 Wow that is very low of you to think that the vets only thing they do is kill. Yes, there is a war going on you might not like it. Yet, who is it that is fighting for your freedom of speech to say those harsh words? Would you rather have the war over here and see a 4 yr old holding a weapon to your face/or have a suicide bomb strap to his body? The children over there are not as innocent. Yes, there are some great people over there that want a change. I don't think so. By the way..."Soldiers risk their lives for people that they don't even know. so liberals can talk shit about the work they do" |
||||
Why would you praise or honor another country's veterans in our country? Do you realize how stupid you sound? Our veterans are the ones that serve,fight and give their lives,if necessary,for your freedom to say the horrible things you're able say about them on here not some other country's veterans. Another thing,our soldiers serve,fight and sometimes give their lives so you can have your right to be ignorant. If you don't have something nice to say about our soldiers,then you shouldn't say anything. You're only showcasing your ignorant liberal views. |
