Why cant we name these punks who are breaking into peoples houses and busineses? People need to know these criminals are in their area. Who cares if they are only 16? Other states have no problem showing their mugshots in the paper and TV, underage or not. If one of these lowlifes lives by me, I want to know about it. Sure makes sense to me.

Having had my home burglurized by minors, and them getting their little hands slapped I agree. It is close to the feeling of being raped.
This County has THE worst laws for minors!

Come on people... it's not the kids fault. It's the parents fault, they didn't give the teenagers everything they needed so they had to steel to get it.

NOT! Unfortunately that is the attitude of late. It's amazing, it's never the criminals fault, it is always some else’s, the parents or society as a whole.

I say the punishment should be harsh, scare them away from repeating their crimes, but that will never happen.

I too would love to see a picture of the punks.... That may be a deterrent in itself.

They should build a cage on the mall and stick those punks inside it along with a sign that says what their crime was.
The passersby should be allowed to throw rotten fruit at them.

Does anyone know anything about the drunk driver accident on Western Drive that happened Friday night? There had to have been 10 cop cars, a couple fire trucks, an ambulance and they even had to call PG&E since the kid hit the utility pole and started a crazy fire. Anything on that Sentinel Staff??

Put them in a cage and throw rotten fruit at them, Beautiful. Lawrence, I love you thinking. Should be more folks around that think like this. We would have a way smaller Cops and Courts section in this paper.
When these people stand in front of Our Honer the Judge, he will send them home and it will be business as usual. The kids will be back at it as soon as they feel like it again. The parents will run around and say, I just don't understand, he is such a nice boy. The parents should spend a few hours in the cage also

Yes. I think their pictures SHOULD be printed. Maybe, just maybe their parents will be embarrassed enough to actually do something.

The law tries to protect minors - WHY?? At 15-16 yrs, they should KNOW right from wrong. Sneaking into a house via the dog door WRONG. Stealing - WRONG. What's so hard about that.

All mugshots should be printed, including all the drunks that get booked. That would be great entertainment ... and justice.

Coming soon to Community TV.

Hey "Surprised".. it was in the paper earlier this week, maybe even Sunday. I was actually listening to it as it happened (Police scanner) and the driver was trapped for a brief bit while the car was on fire, and was transported to a bay area burn center after seeing our local hospital. Think he should be okay though.

This County prosecutes on the same laws as the rest of the state. The problem is the Santa Cruz County Probation Departmen, DA's Office, and Judges.

I didn't hear about that.
But what about the gang fight at Rosie's this weekend? What about the firetrucks and ambulance on Capitola Rd last night?

Looks like at least 3 incidents that could make news in Cops and Courts.

better not be my son, he has already gotten in trouble once, but he wants to live with his mother who lets him get away with this kind of stuff. I hope the parents of these kids teach them what time it is.

I saw this one show where this woman had her son who had gotten caught stealing, stand out on the side of the road in their town and hold up this sign that said "I'm a thief and I want to share a jail cell with my daddy". That I would say was a prime example of a mother taking an active roll in her sons life. I would love to see more youngsters standing on the side of the road holding a sign advertising their crimes for all to see. You know, humiliation goes a long way...especially with teenagers!

"Lucky in Live Oak", I agree with you 100% percent ! I think it would be a great deterrent ! Not enough parents take an Active role in their child's lives. I'm not religious, and no weirdo here, but you know, it seems like kids have no morals. They know the difference between right and wrong, and our punishment is just not enough of a deterrent.

- "put them in a cage"
- "bullet in the chest"
- "deport them"

These comments are moronic. Change starts at home people.

Ive been wondering the same thing. I heard that incident on my scanner. It was actully Saturday morning around 2:30 am. Two people were trapped in the vehicle, the driver managed to free himself, not sure about what happened to the passenger. The car was a 1995 Acura with two occupants. Driver was about age 24. Im gussing it may have been drunk UCSC students. Odd that there is no word from the Sentinel though.
