So, whatever happened with all the money the city was going to get from Gander Mountain? The trial was cancelled. No new trials scheduled. It is pretty safe to say, they will not be coming here and they will not be paying millions to the city or the developer for not doing so. Again, who made a boatload of money on this suit? That would be Bob Sweeney and he billed the taxpayers for doing so. This tune has a familiar ring.
The city is always looking for a big payoff from someone, they consistently count their chickens before they're hatched. They were going to sell the sewers and use the proceeds to payoff their huge debt from the recreation center and the golf course. That was until they figured out the people were not going to go for it. Thank God, that particular council was smart enough to see through the scam.

Did you know the details of Gander Mountain? Nope, I doubt you did. And the developer sued them if I remember right because it was the Jones that got hurt in the deal.

The city sued as an intervenor, Sweeney has been paid beaucoup bucks as such. It's high time he be exposed as the money hound he is. Everything he does benefits his bank account, not the city's.

You don't have to have a law degree to be able to read that the City of Arnold entered against Gander Mountain as an intervenor with plaintiff Arnold Crossroads, LLC which would be a Larry Jones company. Where did you get your law degree? Did someone have to give your exam in small increments so you could focus long enough to pass it?

Like I said, the suit was filed by Jones who suffered the most damages as a result of Gander Mountain not fulfilling their agreement. Who was the lawyer for Jones?

The last time I checked Mr. Sweeney was the attorney for the city of Arnold. Who else do you think should have handled this matter for the city? And do you think this person would have done this work without pay?Do you work for nothing? I don't know any city attorney who works free.

I want to know who Jones' attorney was.

It seems the attorney for Gander Mountain has demanded repeatedly that Mr. Sweeney state the reason the City is suing Gander Mountain to no avail. Guess Mr. Sweeney couldn't come up with a good reason. Dragged it out long enough to sufficiently add to his bank account though.

Doesn't that sound a little silly? We're suing you but we won't tell you why. So they just have to make a wild guess and show up in court? Nonsense!

Is Jones still suing?

I really don't think so. I was just saying how silly that statement by "Curious" was.

You need to talk to your favorite city attorney, because Gander's attorney made numerous demands for the City to state their complaint. The trial was cancelled back in June, this is August, nothing is rescheduled and seems payments for depositions are being requested.

Seems like Sweeney had the right idea. The city joined a lawsuit already in progress to put up a united front. Seems like you all need to learn to read legal a little better.

intervene v. to obtain the court's permission to enter into a lawsuit which has already started between other parties and to file a complaint stating the basis for a claim in the existing lawsuit. Such intervention will be allowed only if the party wanting to enter into the case has some right or interest in the suit and will not unduly prejudice the ability of the original parties to the lawsuit in conducting their case. Example: Little Buttercup Butter Co. has been sued by Market Bag Grocers for selling below standard butter. Better Buy Market has also been buying Buttercup's butter, and wishes to intervene (join in the lawsuit) to avoid either a loss by Market Bag which would affect Better Buy's possible claim, and also to avoid two separate suits. Or another butter company might want to join the suit on Buttercup's side in order to put up a united front with Buttercup against the markets.(See: intervention, joinder)

Well of course, doesn't Sweeney always have the right idea? Anything that extracts more dollars from the taxpayer and deposits it in his bank account has to be the right idea, right? Since that trial was cancelled I guess maybe no one had a case? Is there going to be a settlement? I don't see Gander Mountain agreeing to pay squat, but stranger things have happened.

This is beginning to sound like "Curious" has a personal vendetta against Mr. Sweeney doesn't it ?

Poor, pitiful, picked on Sweeney! It sounds like he is the only one coming out ahead and has been for a long time. Do you recall, the purchase of properties in the triangle? Do you remember one couple who touted the virtues of the project and how great of a deal they got on their property in the Leader? Do you recall it ever being revealed in that article the couple was Sweeney's mother and step-father?

If I remember correctly the properties were purchased by the square foot in the buyout .Are you suggesting that these people got a better deal than everyone else ?

Do you think we really care? It's all in the past at this point and nothing can be changed about it.
