So they should publicize how much they are paying for a piece of property so someone else can come along and overbid them and take it out from under the city? If the Moss thing would have been kept in closed session then nobody's name would have been drug through the mud and subsequent payments/lawsuits may not have happened.
Yeah, publicizing everything really makes sense.
You're kidding, right? They hide this in back room deals because they don't want the tax payers to know how much they overpay. NOT because someone else will overbid. People sell to the city when they can't get what they want from developers or individuals. They can count on the city paying more than it's worth because they are using other peoples money.

The City of Arnold can and should release information on this(the Ott case) and other cases. The public is paying for it and they deserve to know the truth. If other communities can do it, so can ours.

And yet you have no proof of "back room deals". It's just a term you like to throw around to sound like you know something. The discussions are in closed session because of confidentiality while the negotiations are still in progress.

As for personnel, you don't want personnel matters publicized because if there is an accusation that isn't true after investigation and someone can find it in the minutes somewhere, it could affect future employment and cause a lawsuit. But then you never have been too much on confidentiality, have you? You love to broadcast people's private lives all over the Internet like Mike Evans.

Did you read the documents from Perryville? Same stuff, same rules, different third class city. If they can post the closed session minutes, the resignation letter, the disciplinary actions, etc. then so can the City of Arnold. Kudos to Perryville for being an open, honest and transparent government and not trying to hide things as Arnold does! Arnold is just so used to doing what they please and NOT following the law, letting the city attorney make up the rules as they go along and as he sees fit, they don't know what to do when someone calls them on their deceptions. If you think there hasn't been a cover-up and different treatment for different people, you are foolish.

They are following the law and Perryville isn't so wise publishing the minutes of a closed session.

When will you post links to stuff that is actually IN Arnold? You seem to have enough time to have your nose in everyone's business, why not use that time to do some good and lend a hand somewhere?

Probably the same time you post proof that the KKK has done anything in Arnold besides put fliers on cars.

I think you would be much happier in Perryville judging from your posts. Why waste your time in Arnold for something that doesn't exist? I bet you would move to Perryville and then suddenly find a lot of things wrong there and turn that town into a mockery just like you did Arnold.

Apparently he voters don't want the garbage removed. For someone that purports to be at the will of the voters you sure are going against their wishes now. That's like asking the voters to vote on a bill and when the outcome isn't what you want the legislature passes the bill anyway against the will of the voters.

Is city hall ignoring you now that you're no longer an elected official? Find something else to do with your time.

The council voted to accept the settlement on the Ott case at their last meeting. As soon as the city administrator, city attorney and Mayor make up their minds to do the right thing and release the amount of the settlement, you will know how close to a million it costs the city and it's insurance company. As stated earlier, everyone knows it was a sexual harassment case, a real one, not like these others recent cases. Everyone knows who was involved. Many people were disciplined or lost their job when a large settlement was paid in the Hartzell case. This should be the same. This is a true case of retaliation and hostile work environment. All one need do is read the allegations in the suit. If you think it is OK for someone embroiled as a party in a case of sexual harassment to be promoted and allowed to be in charge of even more employees, instead of suspended, you would be in the minority. This is the same person who was supposed to be looking out for his employees. This is the same person who helped drag Ken Moss through the mud because someone TOLD Susie Boone that Ken told them she was a Bword and made sure she was paid out $55,000. Your tax dollars at work
THE FACTS

United States

The taxpayers of this town deserve and NEED to be enlightened on the FACTS of the Ott case! It doesn't matter whether or not there is a settlement involved! This lawsuit incurred major expenses on the city's behalf (therefore utilizing taxpayer dollars) and the details and information involving this case should be made PUBICLICLY AVAILABLE!!! Those of you constantly blabbing about providing proof should DEMAND this information released. If you believe that there is no validity to this lawsuit and the ONLY reason for reaching a settlement is to derail any costly future incurred expenses, then why not release information regarding this case? If this were the factual basis of the proposed settlement, then why not at least provide a statement to citizens advising that the reasoning for settlement is due to the fact that it would cost the city more money in the long run to defend this case and that settling this is more cost effective and beneficial? THAT WILL NEVER HAPPEN BECAUSE IT IS NO WHERE NEAR THE TRUTH! The information and those investigated and/or involved in any way regarding the Ott case should, without a doubt, be made transparent. It will be a cold day in hell if anyone thinks that the Mayor, Sweeney, or Shockey will reveal ANYTHING pertaining to this lawsuit! In fact, EVERY measure/method will be taken on their behalf to make damn sure that no details about this case ever come to light. Should, by some miracle (given the underhanded, corrupt manor in which the City of Arnold is run) the details of this case be made available/known, current administration running this city, and those supporting them, will be exposed for the complete lying, harassing, idiots and scum that they are! We can view complaint filed by officer Ott, why not any information on the City's response to the "allegations", investigation info, and the statements/depositions of those subpoenaed on the case? Why was information on the Boone case made available and talked about and not this case? Counts, Shockey, and Sweeney all spoke about and were even quoted in articles in the Leader about Boone, why not Ott? If those at the Leader weren't one-sided and biased all the time and actually attempted to respectfully report/investigate fairly on matters involving Arnold and it's citizens, then maybe we would have been given a story providing some insight on Officer Ott's lawsuit, or better yet given the respect and opportunity of having an open government! If there is nothing to hide or cover-up, then why so hush-hush about this? I can promise you, should the TRUTH ever be revealed, shock and utter disgust would not even begin to describe the corrupt, inappropriate, malicious behavior and actions allowed to take place by those in charge of and running this City, AND THAT IS A FACT!

I love how everyone likes to throw the libel word around. Look, it's true as are a lot of other things that have been revealed over the last few years, just some are spending too much time and taxpayer money trying to cover their misdeeds and diverting people's attention from what sorely needs attending.

And why does he not only still have a job, but has been promoted by the mayor? And paid even more of our tax dollars?!? Heads should roll! We, the citizens, need to demand this!

Now why would someone from Los Angeles, CA, care about this? Is someone faking their location?
