Anyone else find it a little insulting and offensive that the Arnold Historical Society had their golf tournament in FENTON when we have a golf course in Arnold? Aren't they supposed to help promote the local community?

What I find insulting is that we the taxpayers are subsidizing the Pomme Creek Golf Course to the tune of around $200,000 per year! It is in the hole over $1.2 Million Dollars since the city bought it.!Since the course was AGAIN flooded at the time of their tournament, Riverside gives them a much better deal than Pomme and it (Riverside) is a superior course why should they use Pomme? The city should not be in the golf course business. The promise to the people was it would pay for itself. It hasn't and it isn't going to. There is no big windfall of money that is going to bail this city out of the huge debts it chose to incur to stroke inflated egos. Turn it over to a professional management company or sell it....ask how much it is going to cost to repair the damages from this round of flooding....

By the way, the Arnold Historical Society is not a city funded operation. They operate on a shoestring, no government subsidies, maybe some of you wouldn't mind making a tax deductible donation! Maybe the Mayor could bother to show up at tee time instead of being a no-call, no show as he was last Saturday....

Next time I will make sure to preface my question with "anyone but Doris". I am tired of your inane drivel and excuses.

They should have used the local golf course and after their pathetic display at the parade in only honoring in a big display one fallen council person and saying the other only deserves one sign because he was appointed and not elected, they need to go. Either that or take the word Arnold out of their name. My thoughts are that heir behavior in playing politics should cost them their 501 status.

And I knew you would defend them because you and Bernie are close and she is the one that made the arrangements.

So now, anyone but Doris.

Why should they use the local golf course?(It was FLOODED!!!!)Because YOU say so? Because YOU don't like the fact that they honored Cricky Lang and recognized her family? Maybe the City of Arnold should lose THEIR tax exempt status. Technically they used $45,000 of taxpayer money to launch the political career of Jason Fulbright. They had to pay that out because they illegally removed Sean Missey from the ballot so Jason Fulbright could run unopposed. Facts...try facts instead of your insipid rhetoric.

If you want to be in charge of the historical society then you could make whatever signs you like and have golf tournaments where ever you like lol see how easy that is
If you don't fund them and the city doesn't fund them looks like you don't get to have a say.

I do know there is a section of the course that floods and then is in need of repair. Was it flooded or in need of repair at the time of this event?

"Technically they used $45,000 of taxpayer money to launch the political career of Jason Fulbright."

WOW ....excellent observation !!!! I hadn't thought of it like that but now that you mentioned it, that makes sense.
If the city would quit wasting so much money maybe they could give a little to the historical society.

Doris you are truly a hoot. To see you twisting things to make it look like what it isn't. Keep it up.

And the city shouldn't find them. The historical society is a joke by my standards. You honor both people equally and not choose one over the other. You support local businesses of the town you represent.

And looks like you were wrong Doris. Golf course has not flooded this year. I have to ask, do you just make stuff up as you go along?

Fact: Shaun Missey was illegally removed from the ballot, making Jason Fulbright the lone candidate. Fact: Mr. Missey ended up collecting $45,000 for being removed from that ballot. Hence:$45,000 taxpayer dollars were paid so that Jason Fulbright could run unopposed and launch his political career.
The city shouldn't fund a lot of things. You are a joke by Historical Society standards. You honor who you choose to honor and let others do the same. It is not your call. Pomme Creek Golf Course is NOT a local business. It is a taxpayer subsidized unprofitable entity run by the City of Arnold. Riverside is a true small business that does not operate with a $200,000 deficit every year or they would have to shut their doors.
The river was above flood stage on 7/12/2014.

Sounds like someone has a persecution complex. Maybe some just thought it unwise to allow a bankrupt officer access to their limited funds and they didn't care for the stress and drama brought on during [some]one's brief presence.

There is no justification after the fact for the illegal action taken by the City of Arnold. Mr. Missey should have been allowed to participate in the political process. Instead he pocketed $45,000 due to being denied the chance. This wasn't the first time. The election was fixed. A fine example of corruption and Jason Fulbright is a product of that corruption.

Just replying to statements made in this thread. Many things are interconnected in Arnold due to the culture of corruption that exists here.

No, you're statements are in no way connected to why I started this thread. You hijacked it to get your own opinions out there. This thread is about the historical society and their selective honoring of certain council members they favor instead of being indifferent and why they don't support local business.

I think they need to remove the word Arnold from their name so that the public won't mistake them with being associated with the city or that they are city supported when they aren't. I think a name change is needed for them definitely.

Just because the river was above flood stage doesn't mean the golf course was flooded.

It doesn't really matter, as the event is finished. This is still a free country and people and organizations are allowed to support whomever they wish to support. You do not dictate that.
The Arnold Historical Society does more than it's fair share as far as civic duty is concerned. They are an organization documenting the history of Arnold and how it came to be, not a political "faction." The name is quite appropriate.

Then Doris everything you bring up no longer matters because the events of which you speak are over and done with.

And I have to question how well that documentation is with what happened at the parade in who they chose to honor and their excuse why. Doesn't seem to me like they would be impartial enough to document factual history if they don't consider an appointed person as being on the council.
