As a union member i was sickend to see that jeff fitter was endorsed by jefferson county labor pack. Mr fitter has openly been appauled and outspoken about a simple informational picketing of labor carpenters at arnold commons. SO PLEASE TELL ME WHY HE HAS BEEN ENDORSED

I could probably tell you.... Because the good ole Bart. Fitter is probably Phil Amato's pick so Good Ole Bart will do anything Phil wants. Phil must have some real scoop on Bart. That Jefferson County Labor Pack is a freaking joke. I wouldn't give one cent of my money to them. Ask them how much money they gave Randy Crisler to pay off his back taxes so he could run for the ambulance district the last time.

To set the record I had no issue with the picking but the rules they were breaking. Those members that were there had signs just placed in the ground (they are required to hold them) and were in the middle of the intersection at the stop sign with a sign sometimes and other times handing out information. While standing in the middle of the intersection this can cause a safety hazard for both the members and those driving around them. I was very open about asking the staff to contact them and make sure they were following the policy that is in place allowing them to provide their message in the safest possible way.

I'm not sure what you're talking about?? I didn't file anything. I only asked on the record and in an open P&Z meeting that staff contact and ensure that policy was followed and saftey concerns were met.

Thanks for posting that link. It's clear that what I wanted them to stop doing was holding the sign in the traffic lane. I asked that a letter be sent asking them to stop doing that so no one gets hit.

To answer your questions about being Phil's friend, I serve on the council with Phil. I speak with him on City business as it relates to the topics as I do with all other council members.

I would say I have not befriended Phil any more than I have any other member of the council.

concerned union member, You seem pretty concerned about the issues and if you attend the Jeffco Labor Club meetings, you would hear, as I have, that the endorsements go to candidates who support projects which employ organized labor. Fitter was on Arnold's council when votes were cast that supported organized labor. The CVS Pharmacy project employees local and external labor and the vote against the sale of the sewer was also a vote for labor and directly affected the well being of the currently employed city sewer department employees. There is a big picture and I am giving the guy the benfit of the doubt.

We as uion stick together, not just trades but as a whole some need to realize that, concerned.even thou mr fitter voted for cvs union build project, it is also non union retail also mr fitter voted for Aldi which is also non union retail. So maybe YOU should look at the big picture. Like i said before we all stick together not just pick and chose our battles which trade is better off but for all our union brothers and sisters. UNITED WE STAND DIVDED WE FALL. I for one stick up for all our union. One does not have to attend a labor council to have there voice heard, i am in contact to hear all the facts. so dont question my overall view. I HAD YOUR BACK DURNIGN RIGHT TO WORK BATTLE NOW ITS YOUR TURN TO HAVe ALL OF OURS. ONE VOICE ONE MESSAGE!!!!!!!!!!

Truthfully, the endorsement from the Jefferson County Labor Club has had an adverse effect on most of those who have received it in the past. Phil lost his mayoral and county council races, and had to finally settle for another stint on the city council, Randy lost his city council race, Jim Weiss lost his school board and fire board race, Butch Cooley and John Brazeal lost their council seats, so overall not such a great record most recently. Remember less than ten percent of the workforce is union.

Yes, with the exception of Bob Sweeney needing to spend big bucks he got from ATS to hire The Winding Creek Group, which is a campaign consulting firm out of Washington DC, to get his puppets elected, the labor endorsement has pretty much been the kiss of death. Anyone else wonder what is so important to these guys that the need to hire campaign consultants from DC to help them out? They do not even do this in cities twice this size. What are they hiding?

What union is Fitter affiliated with ? Or is it just Amatos standard run get your endorsement from Bart ?
Didn't the last group drive foreign cars out there to the big endorsement meeting to get theirs ? Big joke if you ask me.

I think it was Matt Hay, Jerel Poor, Jason Connell and Bob Lindsley rode in a foreign car in the Arnold Days parade. That story is in here somewhere.

You really have some burn on for Amato. Any post you have in here seems to get in some dig.

Now pay close attention, this is not about a parade.
This is about undeserving union endorsement.
Maybe you could share what union activity Fitter is affiliated with.
Someone that tries their best to stop pickiting then runs for the endorsement seems very hypocritical to me.
Please explain

Really? I have to agree. Who gives a rats a$$ what was drove in the parade. I don't think any of those folks mentioned got the local labor endorsement. Not even BOB Lindsley who was a union memeber forever. Now lets get back to Fitter. Answer the questions. Is Fitter a union boy or is he just riding on Phillips shirt tail? Anyone can make the promise that they will support union work. Does that really mean he is going to do it, if, he has NO union card? I doubt it.

The labor club endorsement is a kiss of death for a local campaign as is any affiliation with Phil Amato. There are less than 22,000 union members in the county and less than 2000 union members in Arnold. No doubt, a true labor endorsement helps candidates, but the Jefferson County Labor Club is a farce and an embarrassment to the local unions who legitimately endorse true union friendly candidates.

Daily Horoscope for May 21

Capricorn

If you're feeling lonely and vulnerable, it seems as though someone is out to get you. Perhaps you're separated from the people you love and you don't like it. Try not to mope for too long, because there are important things that need your attention. Speaking of which, if you need to do something that you're dreading, you'll feel much better if you can get it out of the way quickly. If you leave it, the very thought of it will drain your energy.
