Congratulations to Nate!

Wish more happened with the school board. Dawn was a great choice. To bad the incumbents for school board were listed first. That always provides an advantage. Really folks?!? Give 'em heck Dawn!

Dawn is tied to the incumbents. She put herself in with the NEA and sought their approval. How many of these BOE members owe their spot to NEA?

Dawn's a good egg. It's always a balancing act regardless. I am confident she will keep standards high for our kids education. Glad one of the Nash is gone.

You are right Dawn Mullins is NEA backed. Guess what, so were Vern Sullivan and John Laughlin. ALL NEA!!! In fact the school board now has 5 NEA backed members including Steve Holloway and Dan Krupa.

Sam Ferry....I told you so back in December. Laughlin would be RE-EELECTED even though he DID VOTE FOR NASH. It doesn't matter what the "people" like you want, it is ALL ABOUT THE NEA. I told you so. They could have all voted for Nash and STILL got elected if the NEA wanted them to. It doesn't matter what is best for our children it is all about the NEA money and what they want for the teachers(they one time complained about having to staple their own papers).

Sam, your wanting to get Laughlin off the board for voting for Nash was all in vain. I TOLD YOU IT WOULD BE. Now lets see what the NEA does for our children.

I had no idea the NEA comprised the majority of voters in Arnold.

Where have you been???? Arnold is a 61% Democratic voting block which includes NEA Union as well as other union/Democratic supporters. In a small April turnout (about 10% of the registered voters) all the NEA has to do is call all of their union/Democratic/NEA voters to get them out to the polls. Most people (90% of registered voters) could care less about April voting as they continue to demonstrate year after year.

The real question is will the NEA members on the Fox School Board continue to do what is good for our children or will they follow other NEA district controlled boards and do only what their members want them to do? Only time will tell.

You don't seem to understand that we live in a democracy. The person who gets the most votes wins! Stop complaining.

So, in other words, one group outcampaigned the other....I thought that was the whole idea behind campaigning for office. You didn't think it would just fall into your lap the way you wanted it to, did you?

Actually we do NOT live in a democracy, we live in a democratic republic. I certainly hope you aren't one of the teachers.

Mary T - the members of the BOE are NOT members of the NEA.

Sour grapes, anyone? The NEA members who worked hard campaigning for Laughlin, Mullins, and Sullivan are teachers, nurses, custodians, bus drivers, coaches, and support personnel that work in your children's schools, teaching them and caring for them. They do what is in the best interests of 'the children' every single day. When they negotiate for better work conditions (it's not always about money) they are, in turn, producing better learning conditions for 'the children'. The NEA is not a threat to children, it's an advocate for teachers AND children. We worked our butts off screening candidates, calling voters, mailing flyers, working polls and the election outcome was favorable for staff and students because of our work. Since the general public is now in attack mode on teachers, we have to support candidates that don't buy into the BIG TEACHER BLAME GAME of blaming all societal ills on public school educators.

You worked so hard that you put someone back on the BOE that blatantly ripped off the public by hiring Kelly Nash. The only reason Laughlin is in NEA's good graces is his friendship with your President.

Mr. Laughlin has done so much good for our district, but narrow vision will only see that one board vote (for Ms. Nash) as his entire character. Look at the big picture. We did.

Is the NEA new to the district? I know the Parkway district is NEA and they dont have a problem with it?

I did NOT say they were. I said they were supported by the NEA. The NEA is "behind them". Like I said, also let's see what they do with the power.

That "democracy" you refer to is backed by the constitution which states I have a RIGHT to complain. First Amendment.....try reading it sometime.

You are right, the person(s) who get the most votes wins. That does not always mean that is the best person to serve the people. Let's wait and see what the NEA does with its new power.

Thank you for speaking up, Mary T.

There is nothing worse than spiteful "winners" who count on dumbed-down nonvoting disinterested residents helping elect them.
