Value City have become a major part of shopping in the baltimore area none of the other discount stores could compare with Value City and to close any store is a sad day for baltimorians that loved shopping there.

Lets hope they take the rest of Dundalk and Essex with them when they leave. That would really clean up the area.

BOHICA, you know, the article is about the closing of stores that Balto and its' environs need. Sad you need to turn it into a commentary on neighborhoods and their residents. Apparently you're not well-traveled as there are many areas much worse than the ones you cited.

Uhh...BOHICA! WAKE UP!!! How's about you try walking around in Baltimore City, like say...Northwest, West, and East. THEN maybe you'll rethink your opinion. Or better yet, watch the "WIRE" on HBO. They film all throughout those areas.

IN THE MEANTIME...I do hope that they'll put a Burlington or at least rethink the closings in Baltimore. Not everyone lives in Walmart, Target, or Kohls.

I was sad when I heard that you were leaving Balto.MD My family had shopped at your store for many years. I could always take my husband there to buy his suits because they always had the best price in town.I will truly miss Value City for my Easter white suits.that our choir would buy each year. I will truly miss shopping at your store, best of luck in the future.Sincerly your Value City custormer.

It's sad your comments don't focus on the real issues. As someone who has lived through one set of restructuring of this company loosing my full time job in the process it is devistating. What do you think will happen to the people affected by this many of whom won't readily find other employment and won't qualify for unemployment not to mention the effect on the local economies. I'm now back to work in one of the stores that are to remain open "for the moment" but in a part time position with no benefits what so ever. Instead of tearing down neightborhoods for loosing businesses try thinking how much worse they will be once the jobs are gone.

who cares? their furniture, heck everything they sell, is crap. furniture is made of pressed wood and glue. not too mention none of their crap is made in USA.

i'll stick with ethan allen, and other high quality vendors. i still have pieces that my parents purchased over 40years ago. aside from a few very minor wear marks, all still in excellent condition. you get what you pay for.

oh yea the impact on the economy and neighborhoods will be devestating. get real. i'm sure if you spend one day looking you can find a job. oh wait you only worked part-time, likely your only job. so dont tell us how "devestated" you are. you are not a hard worker. if you were you would have more than one part-time job, or better yet a real full-time job.

I'm very sorry to hear that
the Value City Store in Greenbelt is closing. It is one of the best discount stores in the area. I do a lot of shopping during the Christmas Holidays in this store. They always had a variety of gift ideas from which to chose.

Not only is the majority of the merchandise of good quality but the store is a great competitor for Marshall's on the lower level.
