County Commissioners confirm acting sheriff

The Woodward County Commission began its meeting Monday by formally confirming Undersheriff Don Bradley as the acting sheriff during Les Morton's suspension. via Woodward News

Gary Stanley, who is running for the sheriffs office drove around in a sheriff pickup with his wife all the time , on personal time and spent taxpayers money doing it. what's wrong with this picture. First off did the insurance on that vehicle cover her and how much money over the years of driving around did they spend on gas to save from putting their own gas in. He did nothing different that Les Morton. He spent taxpayers money as well. People just don't see it that way. concerned citizen

The Woodward County Sheriff's Department does have a "ride along" policy on their vehicles. I assume that this means that their insurance covers civilians who want to ride along to see what an officer actually does on the job.

Gary Stanley has never been friendly to me. Don't know why. But I know there are a lot of public officials, and also employees in the private sector with company vehicles that take their whole families in their company vehicles. Granted, the private sector ride-alongs don't come out of the tax payer's pocket, it still gripes me to no end when I see a Chesapeake or Nomac vehicle parked in the Kid's Inc. parking lot or at United, or the movie theater. It's just not right!

Tom Painter,whose son,Travis is running for sheriff has been the instigator of alot this.By the way,Tom Painter is running for sheriff in Harper Co. and from my understanding,he isn't too popular.Do any law enforcement hang out with those two?

For goodness sake get a sherif that know,s what he is doing other then to spend time watching those fishing at the lakes.

I know the people the Painters use to rent from. When they moved out they left behind all kinds of witch craft books and chants and bill collection notices. The house was left completely nasty. It looked like they were lazy slobs, they had nothing but trouble getting rent out of them. I would hate to see what he would be like in charge of the county.
