Lamont gets 10 years probation

“There is nothing the court can do to help ease this burden for the victim's family ... There are many reasons to sway. I don't know what justice will say about the case in the future.”

A man who pleaded guilty to criminal vehicular homicide last month will be on probation for 10 years for the death of his friend in May 2006. via Sentinel

I can't believe the judge let this moron off with only 10 years of probation. This guy has a record of drug abuse, alcohol abuse, driving drunk, breaking probation, etc. He gets out of the messes he makes for himself by being an informant. I thought for sure now that the idiot killed someone, he would have to be held accountable for it. Guess not...it is more important to the cops to bust someone smoking a little pot in their home than it is to save lives by taking a moron with a record of driving drunk off the streets.

Let's not forget our wonderful District Attorney, who would rather plead a case down to nothing rather than actually go to trial. We can't just blame the judge in these cases, Mr. District Attorney has a lot of blood on his hands, afterall, Fairmont is well known as the place to move to if you want to commit serious crimes and get community service rather than a real sentence that would be handed down in any other court in the US. Maybe now people will finally wake up and not re-elect this guy! We need a District Attorney who isn't afraid to actually try a case!

let's understand that to make judgements about a case maybe you should know more than just what you read in the paper. Like the fact that Lamont was prosecuted for murder, simply because he owned the car, not because he was driving that night. Mike Osmundson and "FuFu" (an alias) both were actually in the car that night and happen to be the ones there that left Don there to die, but they weren't prosecuted for murder.... why??? How can you be convicted of murder for simply owning the vehicle it took place in????? I guess in fairmont MN you can.
