I don`t understand, he was convicted and sentenced to 20 years in federal prison, and he was not in handcuffs and escorted by federal marshalls? If he was a scum bag and bilked people out of all that money, then how in the world could he be trusted to surrender ,alone, to start serving his sentence. Were they going to reserve a parking space for him at the prison ? I guess that way he`d have a ride home when he got out. I don`t know if the news service omitted some info to make this and a lot of other stories believable, or if the federal government is that stupid. Somebody enlighten me, please.

Daniel Marino, Bayou Group’s former CFO, was required to begin serving his prison term immediately upon sentencing. However, the judge granted Samuel Israel a two-month delay (under a $500,000 bail agreement) before beginning his prison term on account of some “preexisting health conditions.” So, yes — the story omitted some details, but probably for reasons of space and clarity, not with the intent to deceive readers.

So let`s see, I guess the judge figured scum bag wouldn`t skip out and forfit 500,000 dollars. Maybe he forgot that scum bag stole 450 million and 500,000 is like breaking a five and spending the other 4 cents just like that.Don`t they have doctors in prison? Why should Isreal be given any special treatment? There`s been other federal prisoners that went straight to prison. I guess maybe this wasn`t a serious enough crime, or maybe he was trust worthy. The shame of it is that the victims will never see their money again.

That's an excellent question for the judge.
