If Nader Agha wrote a check to a friend of Dave Potters for $10,000 and if that money found its way to Dave Potter there are a couple of questions. Was this meant as a bribe since Agha, Potter and Russ Carter didn't report this campaign "loan"? If it was meant as a bribe then what was Agha expecting in return, does he have business that requires Potter's support?
The District Attorney's office too quickly dismissed this issue as a Political Reform Act matter for the FPPC, rather than launch an investigation into possible conspiracy to bribe a public official and other charges. There are many examples of this type of "Payment" throughout the country. John Conyers' wife just pled guilty in Federal Court for bribery and conspiracy. I believe she is a local elected official. If the District Attorney's office and Sheriff Mike Kanalakis don't want to touch this because they are literally friendly with everyone involved forward the issue to AG Brown and the US Attorney's office in San Francisco for a review. Then those top law enforcement people can say this was no big deal, or something very wrong. I thought the article made Agha appear rather stupid, like a child who doesn't know what to do unless a grown up tells him what to do but this isn't the Nader Agha people speak of in the community. He is slick. Potter has issues too and he isn't all "for the people" he seems to get some benefit from his political position and without his political job might be just another general contractor desperately looking for work in an area where not much work is out there, unless you are building something for Russ Carter. Maybe it was a tree house. |

In Dean Flippo's world no one is touchable as long as they are campaign contributors or heavies in Monterey County. Look how easy he has gone on Don Chapin over that illegal bid. Flippo's office said there was a crime committed but declined to prosecute.
For those that argue there is no justice within the walls of the courthouse you are not paranoid, you are not a radical fringe. You realize the game is rigged, locally, at the State and within the federal system. The whole thing is a joke. This issue will be investigated by some ambitious US Attorney or State DOJ attorney. The FPPC has no teeth, no money and only a few lawyers, why? Because they investigate politicians, who funds the FPPC? Politicians. Time for another proposition a State agency, the FPPC, that must receive a certain number of dollars to properly go after politicians. The Herald doesn't care much about the product anymore but they are not alone. They join a long line of papers that pump out half finished stories with weak follow up because they have no money. You can floss your teeth with local papers and no one cares. |
