It's good for people to realize how important charity is to the Islamic faith. It is one of the five pillars of Islam. Particularly during Eid al-Adha.
To All: Eid Mubarek! Merry Christmas! And Happy Hannukah!

Muslim charities expand horizons
Abdul Malik Mujahid wasn't quite sure where to start when the Council of Islamic Organizations of Greater Chicago decided to extend its charitable mission beyond Muslims.

Good article today titled: Muslim charities expand horizons.
We only hear all the bad things about Muslims and I know there has to be a few good people out there some place. Great story. Keep up the good work for love and to make this world a better place to live for everyone. Aloha, Von Dent Aiea, Hawaii v484@hawaiiantel.net |

REDNECK ALERT.
This goes to show that no matter what Muslim Americans do, rednecks will always hate, because that's their job, and it's currently the Muslims' turn to be hated on by these KKK descendants. The whole conservative argument of "where are the moderate muslims?" doesn't hold water, they just like hide their prejudice with semi-innocent or half-intellectual questions, but when you strip everything down, the truth is it's just hatred like all other minorities have been hated in this country. Keep up the good work rednecks. And for Mr. Jack, one of the largest mosques in all of Chicago is in your back yard in Villa Park, so maybe you should move to the exurbs past Aurora. Republican hillbilly. |

Thank you for the new angel of depiction of American Muslims and their contribution to the local community.
My Mosque, the Mosque Foundation in Bridgeview, has been running a community food pantry for the past 3 years, that serves 140 families weekly regardless of their religion or affiliation. We also teamed up with other organizations in Chicago to provide affordable housing and health care for the uninsured. I see similar effort in many other Islamic organizations and I am confident that we will see more Islamic Philantropy in the near future as the community mature more. |

We have to do what we think is right no matter what the rest of the world may think and we all must forgive befor it's to late. Give love without any expectation of reward. Just do it because you want to do it. That is why it's much better to give than to receive because no human can ever feel what you feel if they never gave. Good job no matter what the world thinks. Do it in the name of love not religion. |

Rednecks? HMMM. Muslims have a lot to do to overcome their reputation as deveastated as it is. The Muslim site Muslim Bridges is full of reasons to dislike Muslims. They saying we are best and you must convert has engraved itself in our hearts. You guys got a lot more to do. Unlike other religions who have some bad history, since WW2 most have done something to help themselves and nothing to further the biblica history where hate did exist. Thus some of you like to bring of previous Century history and call to the rest of us the fact that you still live with a base in the MidEast that behead, stone, chop of body parts and punish other religions just for being other religions. Maybe you came to the US to live a better life..well stop selling hate on Muslim Bridges, and supporting CAIR and telling me how you are peaceful. Try acting peaceful...and sticking up for those that really are peaceful. And yes, it is about time you shared in the help Catholic Charities, JUF, and others give to the world outside their religion, right here in the US and Chicago. |

As a member of Project Downtown Fort Lauderdale, I can tell you that there is no geographical boundry to poverty. Just like in Chicago, we have it here on the streets of the sunny South. But I salute my brothers and sisters in Chicago who get out there in the cold each week and reach out to our friends on the street. Keep up the great work!
