This is bull shit there is no excause for this she could have given the baby to someone or dropped him off at a business. There is no excause for this anyone in there right mind knows that if you put a baby into a plastic bag that it will sufficate. On top of that throwing him over an 8 foot fence. I am a teenage mom i had my first daughter at 17 years old and no matter how scaired you are to have a baby you should still have the mother instinct and you know you need to protect your baby and most of all any baby needs to be kept warm and have medical attention right away after birth. She knew by putting the baby in a secluded area like he was that someone might not find the baby and most likely he would die. Maybe if he was put in a safe place and around a business or on a doorstep that would be different. I dont really know what to say but i know that unless she has a mental dissability or on serious drugs she knew what she did was attempted murder and that she was taking the chance to live away from her child. She needs to get the maximum sentance for what she did. This isnt fair to the innocient infant that was put into such unfortunate circumstances this was WRONG by all means!!!

Washington State statute allows for unwanted newborns to be left at medical facilities no questions asked. If she didn't want the baby she should have taken it to a clinic or hospital. What she did was reckless disregard for the baby's health and life and she should be prosecuted. If it cannot be proven that she intended to kill the baby, then prosecute her for assault.

The people she was staying with should also be charged because they knew what she did and said nothing!

I couldn't agree with all of you more. I have a 1 year old son and I couldn't imagine something happening to him. I live just down the road from where this happened, I don't know the girl, but my god, she had other options. What do the lawyers think she was doing putting the baby in the bag. Anytime you put anything in a garbage bag, it's trash. And that is exactly what she treated that baby as. I surely hope that whoever takes in this baby will give him the love and devotion that he needs, something his mother couldn't provide.

Another case where the mother gets off with (attempted) fillicide. She put the infant in a plastic bag for Christ's sake! What exactly is one trying to do when they put a child in a garbage bag, inside a locked fenced off area next to a drainage pond? Scare the child? I'm confused.

Where is the baby's father? Didn't it occur to you that since the daddy doesn't give a rat's ass about that baby, why should the girlfriend care? Boys don't give a goddamn, they want to hump and dump and move on to the next girl. There is no love here, some girls feel hopeless. Yes it's wrong what she did, but shouldn't the baby's father be held responsible too? I hope he rots in hell for what he did.

I work for Social Services & you are absolutely correct in everything you stated. Unfortunately the girl will probably not be severely punished. She'll claim some mental problem & the courts will show her leniency.

I am very dissapointed in the Social Services comment "claim a mental health problem" Clearly she did have amental health issue or she would not have done what she did. Maybe you are in the wrong vocation or have become too cynical. Or maybe you are to busy hating the people you work with to help them?
