Oops!

I've seen this happen in the Quality Control area of an auto factory.... more than once.... a repair person forgot to put the nut back on the steering shaft after putting the steering wheel back on.

I'm amazed that it hadn't happened a lot sooner on such an old car.

I'd be looking into dealer repair records on this one.

Years ago, in a different car, my Pontiac Sunbird, almost new, I was signaling for a turn and the stick fell off. I was appalled. I stuck it back into the hole but it was never fixed. I was driving my mother somewhere and when I said, "My stick fell off," she found it amusing. ha ha. Even moms have dirty minds.

Oh how absolutely cartoon. I mean really? Your stearing wheel pops off and of all the places to crash, a barn? C'mon now.

Exactly, because normally, he would'nt be able to get close to a barn, even with navigation...( probably a slope).

yes back then the steering wheel did disassemble simply by pop/off after you remove a pin or a set screw etc etc

I can drive a thousand miles and not come across a barn, but the second my stearing wheel pops off, BAM there it is!
