If we looked into the past of all our elected officials, we wouldn't have a goverment.

Villaraigosa should have been long gone, he had an affair while Mayor. Do those OLD photos impact her Mayoral duties?

Who cares!! It's part of who she is, and you elected her. Get a life!!

I disagree with the recall measure. As long as the mayor is doing her job well, any pictures she took BEFORE her election should not be an issue. This mentality would not allow an ex-stripper to be mayor? Because it is not "appropriate"? Ridiculous.

Ridiculous. Completely and totally ridiculous. The pictures were taken before she was elected, so I do not see the bearing it has on her position as mayor. Besides, if I looked that good, I'd pose for some racy pics too!:)

The mayor's oppenents were all jealous that she was better looking than they were or better looking then there wives lol

Who cares about her pictures and my space. I thought our contry was founded on freedom of speech and the right to be whatever we want to be. This woman posted some pictures of herself on her MySpace site, she wasn't naked she wasn't taking a bribe she wasn't molesting children, she definitely wasn't soliciting to undercover cop in an airport bathroom (Senator Craig). everybody better start sucking it up and stop being old fashion. If we start judging people because of who and what they are, and what they do. If this is the case then every SORE LOSER (AL GORE) should ask the winner (BUSH) be fired from his job.
I think she should sue those who took her out of the mayors seat.(SORE LOSERS!!!)

This is RIDICULOUS. Her "opponents" should be publicly chastised for complaining. The "values" that render this kind of harmless sexiness should be questioned far more severely.

OMG!!!! She's wearing a whole lot more than most women wear on any public beach. Does that really impact the work she'd perform in her duties as mayor? And it's not like she was the one who posted the "offending" pictures - it was a well-meaning relative. If a US President can have illicit affairs while in the White House, Congressman and Senators can have their romps outside their marriages, large city Mayors can have their mistresses while serving their city (remember these are all men), how can a small town mayor (female mayor) receive the ax for doing a very innocent act of posing for a picture (fully clothed and not posing "seductively" mind you)? Seems women in elected positions are judged on a different scale of "immoral" compared to the male elected. SHAME on you Arlington, Oregon.

As if this has anything to do with this individual's qualifications for mayor. This country needs to wake up and stop acting like a bunch of 13-year-olds.

Why would you fire her, she's hot! Does she get the job done? That's all that matters, really.

If this is all that she did, She should still keep her job. Good grief. A modeling picture and she gets fired for it? There are many worse cases in our State and Federal government that I can think of and nothing ever happened to them. This women is completely innocent compared to what others have done. Names that come to my mind - Bill, Ted, John, Larry, etc I think everyone gets the idea. I know for one thing the ones I mentioned above surely displayed and carried through on their inappropriate behavior and look what happened to them. NOTHING. Knock it off and give Carmen Kontur-Gronquist her job back. Bad decision to post online? No. Grounds for being dismissed from her job as mayor? Absolutely not. Can our children see much worse on public television or on the front of a woman's magazine? Absolutely. These items are at children's disposal every day. Yet, modeling pictures of a mayor taht are on her own website and all hell breaks loose? Get real. Until every racy television show is pulled off the air and naked women are pulled from magazines from store shelves, then you can fire her. Until then, give her the position back.

To add to what I already wrote: Let's look into every member that fired her. I am sure we can find some nice fresh dirt or skeletons buried deep in the closet. I don't care whether the pictures were taken before or after getting into office. I hope she sues the living daylights out of Arlington, OR. Anyone in any town, U.S.A. can go into a grocery store and look at the magazines and view more skin than this. Borderline porn pictures in the supermarket and its allowed? How about the Victoria Secret commercials? Are these appropriate for our children to watch? Yet we see modeling pictures of a hot babe on the internet (just so happens to be the mayor of Arlington, OR) then it suddenly becomes immoral, inapporpriate behavior and grounds for dismissal? The town better re-think their decision.

Who are these people that make these insane decisions? And I think Los Angeles would be happy and relieved to have a town MAYOR behaving this way. Maybe it might even motivate us to eat better and work out!

i can understand if she banged the fire department, but this is not grounds for being fired! you can bet if the mayor was a man and posed in his boxers he wouldn't have been fired!

Unfair. There are nude pictures of Californias Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger all over the internet. How is that fair?
Carmen did no wrong

I feel that Carmen did nothing wrong. Everyone no matter who they are or where they came from or anything has done something wrong at some point in their lives. Even Catholic priests do wrong and they are not stripped of their role but moved to a new location. Carmen should not have been removed from office, she was volunteer and got paid nothing for the position of mayor. If I was in that town I would be happy to know my mayor was a human being just like me and I would move out of town if the town removed her from office because that town sucks if they can't see humanity in all of it's forms.
Carmen I am sorry you got removed from office but I am proud of you for standing up for yourself and I give you a pat on the back for being a human being and wish you the best of luck in your future.
